    Default Small tweaks

    1. Legions can only be restrenghtened when they reach 3/4 strength or less (4,500). Replacements will take two months in game (1 day) to reach the front. Any legion that loses more than half of its number(3,001) in one battle will lose a star denoting veteran status.

Reasoning: Battles are a numbers game financially speaking. Casualties don't really matter as long as someone will pay for them.

    2. When an enemy army enters any territory the time they spend in that territory will mean a loss of income over time. The longer an enemy army spends in the territory, the more loss will be incurred. For each day an enemy army occupies a territory 10% of the income will be lost for the next term's payday. Game moderators will keep track of affected territories and pass on the specific information to Quaestors and game moderators.

Reasoning: Taxes don't come from territories that are being ransacked at will by enemy forces.

    3. Legions shall take three days (~4 months in game) to levy

    More to come

I was actually thinking something a long these lines a while back, I was also considering that legions should take a full turn to recruit because as it stands we can react far too fast to sudden changes in the diplomatic/military situation.

Money was supposed to be the limiting factor to legion recruitment. I would be more in favor of three days as opposed to a full term, just because we don't have standing legions like Ancient Rome would have had.

That seems fair enough, but then we'd have to adjust the way enemies react to make them more aggressive in the event of an invasion, as it stands all the encounters we've had so far have had to wait for us or have been oriented around us.

You discussed the idea of enemy armies reducing income in another thread and I agreed with it then and I agree with it now. It shouldn't be too hard to track but I say we implement my legion tracking idea along with it.

Also I think that Cavalry/Archers should have some sort of veteran system, preferably designed so that they need a certain number to actually gain points (say 500+ Cav and 1,000 Archers (this is just an example)) but beyond a certain threshold (1,500 for Cavalry or 2,500 for Archers) they chances of them gaining Veteran points dramatically drops, unless you organise them into another unit.

Thus should encourage people to have small support forces etc.

Just a thought as I really think that Ace_General's cavalry at the very least need some kind of recognition.

I'd like to keep that sort of thing at the discretion of the moderators, but denoting experience based upon battles served in seems fine. They can use the same legionary system without the upkeep penalty if they wish. The way it works now is the number of survived battles divided by two equals the experience as denoted by the stars.

Indeed, at the very least it should be denoted so that it is understood.

I've put all the above into effect, I don't think anyone should have a problem with it. I'll start applying the new rules to my own battle immediately.

I sometimes wonder if anyone even checks for these sorts of thread to be honest

    Looks good.

Probably not, just as long as they don't complain when we correct them

Hopefully we'll start seeing more people raising cavalry of auxillia now.

How do you guys feel about auxiliary characters someone may play (a political ally of sorts to your main character) when they are away from the senate (either at war, in a proconsulship) to keep the curia a bit more active during terms like this?

    Like the unkown senator?

But seriously, yes we need that badly or else the Senate is dead.

And how they always get glared at and shouted down?

The way it would work is that the "ally senator" couldn't run for any magistracies, but any points acquired by that character could be transferred to the main. That way speeches in the rostra, opposing/proposing bills and the like are still encouraged.

Do we get their income too?

    I like that idea though.

I think I am going to implement this next term, its a rather big change and I don't want to mess with the status quo mid term.

Added the auxilary char info. Feel free to make an aux if your main is away from Rome.

I am somewhat tired of our lack of membership limiting what we can do in game. I wanted to create the Aedileship but with 80% of the offices on average going uncontested there seems to be no point.

How do you guys feel about allowing auxilary senators run for low offices like Quaestor and Aedile? They would earn no income, obviously, but they would add a lot to RP such as proposing city improvements (aedile) and helping to perform necessary functions with the treasury (quaestor).

Also I was considering adding a way to spend Pleb points on buying a tribune, an NPC tribune that becomes a client of sorts that would enable you to ask them to veto something and based on a roll (50/50?) the legislation could be passed. The NPC tribune would be subject to assassination attempts. Of course it would cost a considerable amount of points to buy a tribune.

Support. And maybe 15 points for the tribune, since you can "buy" a legion with 15 loyalty points.

    Yeah good suggestion.
