Peace With the Pope

In my Venice campaign I decided that after 150 turns the reconquering of Asia Minor and the Jewish coast and the gains of all of Italy it was time to take back the seat of the Roman Empire and found it anew. Unfortunately now I can't find a papal army to make peace with. I'm a little tired of being excommunicated. Wat do?

Haha I did this except I threw them out, let them back in, then turned the pope into my vassal.

I assume you've been looking with fog of war off?

My thinking is that with a new pope, the new pope has to appear somewhere next to a papal settlement, or if not, next to Rome...you haven't been able to find new popes?

There must be some. I remember once I killed Pope and took Rome 1 unit of BodyGuards guarding Pope was spawnnig near Rome after every new election.

the first pope spawns in his home country (wherever he got elected from) the following popes will spawn near rome if theres no papal city left. At least this is how i believe it works...been awhile since i killed the pope...

but somehow it seems like there is no pope...
if that´s the situation you have "just" to wait until some christian faction builds an priest high enough to become cardinal... who would become pope.
find out if there is a pope and if there are cardinals!

Ghawarblarghl. These Scottish popes live forever, and I can't even kill him! I'm eternally excommunicated. I wish I could just go protestant and be done with it.

check the trees around rome...he's probably in ambush mode.

I've seen various heirs/leaders wandering around the map in places that, really, they shouldn;t be - removing teh fog of war and searching the enitire map is probably best - although Ive never found that the Pope will make peace even if you give him most of Italy

still... is the pope alive? are there cardinals? how is the pope´s name? we need more info!
solution would be
move_character "Name of the Pope" x y
x y should be near an army of you... this does not work if the pope is dead...

So the Pope is technically alive, but he doesn't have a character on the map to move, he has no armies, no navies, no agents, and no towns. I guess I really am forever excommunicated. Is Islam hiring?
