    Default Lusotannan problems. (CTD)

Still playing EB for a while now, had some minor CTD's playing as other factions.
But when playing as the Lusotannan, my game crashes every time I load a battle.

Could it have something do with saving before the battle starts?

Yes, saving for battles is bugged in the engine. However, I doubt you have the 1.2 fixes installed?

    1.2 is installed.
Only I have always saved before battles, but never did I have so many CTD's.

I was not asking if 1.2 is installed (btw, double check with the version number in the main menu), the sprites fix for 1.2 has some missing files fro 1.2 which will cause the game go CTD before a battle (especially in Hispania). So did you apply the fixes?
If you are unsure, just download them and install for good, to be on the safe side.

Sorry, did not know what there was an extra fix for 1.2.
I've added the sprite fix, and will start testing soon.

EDIT: Fix seems to have worked, ty Samatan

Sorry to sound dumb, but the instruction for installing the 1.2 fixes says, "Unpack into <RTW directory>/EB/data." What I did was extract the compressed fix files and copy them into the RTW/EB/data file. I didn't overwrite anything, just left the separate fix files in there with the originals. Was that correct, or should I have overwritten the originals? Or maybe done something else?
One other question: Another site (I forget where exactly) had another 1.2 fixes file available. It was a single file that, when I opened it, installed itself into a separate folder in the RTW game folder. Should I leave that, or delete it?
One other point: I've got a captured Carthaginian town in the Western Desert that already has a Type II Roman government. Yet in the settlement construction window it shows the possibility of building Types II-IV, as if I didn't already have a government there. What gives?
Thanks for your kind attention. It's a great mod, but oh, those CTD's!

That sounds like you installed EB into Program Files while using Vista/Win7. In that case, disable UAC while applying the fixes. First unpack them to a neutral folder, then move the files.

Only download files from the Internet from valid sources. 1.2 fixes is the official thread. Follow the advise given there.

Always destroy left-over government buildings (even your own), build up new.

Nearly all CTD's come from Vanilla, they appear more often because of the size of the mod. Save often in different slots, that will safe you time!

    And always activate the script!

    1) Actually, no. I've got Windows XP and my EB game is inside a separate RTW folder on D-Drive, while vanilla is in Program Files on C-Drive. The fixes files are sitting in the EB/data folder next to the originals. I'm at around 220 BCE, having just barged into Spain, and every non-resolved battle crashes before it starts (I watch it begin loading, then it gets stuck, and CRASH!). Had the same problem in an earlier campaign (playing as Romans on H/H, as now) and quit in exasperation. But the mod's so neat I gave it another try, thinking the fixes were installed. But it seems obvious the "sprites" still aren't there. So should I drag the Sprite fixes file into the original Sprites file, or what?
    2) I'll delete the invalid fixes folder. Maybe that's the problem.
    3) I destroyed the Qarthasdi buildings and government type after capture; how else would I have installed my own? But I'll try Type-III and see what happens.
    4) Yessiree, I've got four save slots, and save before every end turn. All is not yet lost!
Thanks again and have a great day.

Unpack the archive to a neutral folder and afterwards move the files per hand to their location as written in the 1.2 fixes thread.

Are you talking about Tuat? We ran out of place in Therrazza so this settlement is also used to track the players way, just leave the town alone (rebel or lvl4+client ruler)

Thanks XSamatan. I wound up simply dragging the Sprite fixes file into the original Sprite file in EB/data. That helped a bit, but maybe the problem's mostly with my dual core processor. I'll try that if things get too bad (seems the CTD's almost always happen in Spain).
The town I had a possible add-government option was Kirtan. After going with Type III there hasn't been a repeat. Thanks again, and cheerio.

You'll find a solution for dual-core related problems in the Frequently encountered issues.

    Happy gaming!
