Compare Laptops

Hey guys,

I have bought a G71gx laptop over in the United States.

Back in Europe the fan has broken down and replacing the thing will cost 190 Euro.

Now I consider selling the laptop and getting an other: Medion ERAZER x6816

I m not sure if a dual core with 2.53 Ghz or a Quadcore with 2.0 Ghz will work better for games.

Also the video card is slightly worse I fear. Please tell me which of the two Laptops is better cause I dont wanna buy worse stuff than previous

They're close to the same, except the 555M supports DX11 and has more memory on this laptop.

As for gaming, the 2.53 Dual Core's probably better, sadly.

they are close in terms of gpu performance, which I find it to be troublesome since people like to upgrade when they change anything.

in terms of cpu power the medion is going to wipe the floor with its quad, since it can turbo boost and stay there it will be usually in the house of 2.8GHZ clocks, since the SB architecture is more than 50% powerful than the core 2 duo line its going to wipe the floor. that is even on gaming

Well I wasn't thinking of Turbo-Boost. In that case, Mr. MM's correct.

yep the 2630qm can turbo on 1 core up to 2.9, 2 cores 2.8, 4 cores 2.6. Sincerely, Im torn recommending the 2630qm right now, since the clevo/sager resellers havent started putting the new 2680qm (same clocks as the 2720qm), the 2760qm has base clocks of 2.4 and can turbo up to 3.5, so yeah its quite a jump im performance

and the cooling of the np5165 (sager name for that medion) is adequate to keep turbo on for unlimited amount of time.

I would surely go for the NP8150 instead of that np5165, since the former is quieter, cooler, and will gift you (that is if you chose the 6990m or the gtx 485m or gtx 580m) with an improvement in performance in games of more than 100%, the base gpu of that model a gtx 560m is already 20-30% more powerful than the gt555m that it packs.

I thought Asus has an international warranty. If you say you are currently in Europe for a month or two (because you bought it in the US), i'm sure they will fix it for free if you still have warranty.
