    Default Question regarding Epirotes faction symbol

    I have been wondering for a while why the Epirotes or Aiakides faction symbol resembles the symbols found on certain Roman shields like the one in the picture?
    What's the historical connection and reason for the romans to use this symbol on their shields?
    I'm refering to the "arrows" on the shield.

    The "arrows" on the Aiaikide symbol represent lightning bolts but I don't know if the same can be said of the Roman's. However, the Romans were also influenced by Greek mythology and it's not impossible that both were symbolically referencing Ares (Greek) or Mars (Roman) their Gods of War.

    I thought thunderbolts were connected to Zeus, as he is always said to be holding a fist of thunderbolts. But Greek mythology isn't my strong area - he could be holding ARes, for all I know.

    thunderbolt=zeus=jupiter(<zeus+pater=father zeus)

    same deity head of the pantheon => same symbols used (invoking the power of zeus)
