''I have come to greet the newest Senator in Rome. You have an extraordinary Villa here.''

Thank you, it was my uncles. After he died in Germania the family gave it to me. Do not mistake me for having the biggest fortune in Rome.
The two men walks trough the garden.
They gave it to me so that i could regain some of the power we had before, in our home town.
Now... Everything happens in Rome, we could youst wach as the power slowly was trancfered to the city. I am here to get a part of the power thats going to senter around this town.

Lucullus grins

'' Many are here for the power, but the question is: Will you use it properly?

Dont tink my biggest dream is to rule the earth, i did not chose this for power but to get away from my family. They are never satisfyed.

He stops and look at the fishes in the pound.

I have myself seen the misery of the people and soliders during times of war. The schreams of the families fleeing from their burning villages, who we was ordered to destroy.
I have withnessed the plauge ruining cities, not onley in the north but also in Italia itself.
I am hoping to increse the living condition of the people outside Latium. Its of vital impotance for the Imperium, and for Rome itself.

Remember, most of the inhabitants in the imperium are not Romans. Take my home-city as the prime example, we need to Romanice them! Romanice the world, then the imperium is safe...

'' What to you mean by Romanising. Do you think they would take this news gladly?''

Gaius look up.
We must learn the barbarians to enjoy proper roman ways. It wil take time and they are not going to like it at first. But once their leaders are roman and the onley way to climb the social hiarky, they wil start talking Latin, take baths, wach games.

He trows some bread to the fishes.
Of course we are not going to order them to become romans, this wil have happen gradualy.
This mean, im afraid, to increese the money used to develop the newest provinces, if we use money to help them they will like us and want to be like us.
We have to get more money.

He looks at Lucullus.
Maybe a expedition to some rich land would be preferable to incresed tax, or investments in Rome?

Sorry to start with politics at once, I hope im not going to stat debating and make a fool of myself the first year. Whats your story?

Lucullus laughed

''Don't worry. In my first year I did make a fool of myself when debating. Since then, I have been a bit more cautious when debating.''

Could you.. tell me whats "going on" and what i should awoid?

[Sonke]

Lucullus smiled again

'' Certainly. You remind me, when I also was starting. I knew only a few things.''

Lucullus coughed for a moment and continued

''Right now there discussions about the war with the Lusitanians, situation in Numidia and the Gallo-Germanic war. My best suggestion is that you should debate if you want to and you should stand by your words.''

Gnaeus Claudius Tranquillius ( Has many powerful allies)
Setimus Tuccius Nerva( His brother recently made a suicide, because he was charged with treason, still a powerful family)
Severus Vipsanius Cincinnatus( Very popular amongst the people and the Senate)
Aulus Ovidius Priscus( Popular ex-Quaestor current Consul. He is a wise man)
