Do you mean in the battle map? You have to go into your preferences file and change:

Minimal_UI: True, to Minimal_UI False

this is not related to the preferences.txt, it should be default for missile units, also try the Ctrl+A shortcut in battle this toggles autofire on/off, make sure to select only missile units, though or else nothing will happen.

the shortcut is simply A if push ctrl+a you select all unit in the battlefield however clicking

A dosn't change the situation
but if you changed the panel you must know how to restore it's logico

did u do what CaesarCS said to do? did u change Minimal_UI: True, to Minimal_UI: False in preferences? and did fire at will become disabled in your game?
