Gaius Marius Aquila's 40th Birthday Feast

As promised, a grand banquet is being held in the home of the Aquilae. Among the things served: The finest wine from Italia, the most tender meat from the provinces, dates from Egypt, and water from any river but the Tiber. Guests are encourage to avoid passing out in the middle of the villa, and are therefore asked to make their way to the edges of the party if they wish to get completely drunk. That said, enjoy the festivities.

Gaius Cornelius Scipio is the first guest arriving, he's followed by his family. He moves up to congratulate Aquila.

He decides to not spoil the occasion with talk of poison.

He is shown to the host "Ave Marius. Excuse me for being bit late, I had to meet with some representatives that people had asked to see me for their concerns."

"But enough of my excuses" Aulus hugged his host "I'm glad to be asked here on this occasion even though we haven't been introduced formally."

After this Aulus stood firm and greeted him again formally for the jest "Aulus Junius Horatius, I'm honored to be asked here."

Gnaeus offers the host a present, one of the finest Roman wines he could find

Aquila gladly accepts the wine. "Thank you, Gnaeus. Good drink is rare these days."

Aquila grins. "This is a party, Gnaeus. I'm not a senator here."

"Think nothing of it, Aquila" Gnaeus said again, grinning

Corva and his family arrive followed by a litter of slaves displaying a large bronze statue slightly over lifesize;

"Happy birthday old friend, I have a gift for you."

I bought these ancient sculpture from a temple on the island of Euboea. The Greeks there so poor they sell their heirlooms to feed themselves, and thats where I found this amazing piece. They tell me it dates back to the the 5th century, and represents the God Zeus hurling a thunderbolt against his enemies. I hope you like it."(ooc: gifted 1000 denarii)

Lucius Petrus Dextrus arrives with a group of slaves carrying a crate of fine wines from southern Italy.

"This is amazing, Corva. Thank you. I will have it placed somewhere visible after everyone has left." He laughs. "But maybe you should work on improving those Greeks' quality of life! Anyway, enjoy yourself here."
