Severus enters the Senate to bid his friends and the senate as a whole goodbye.

I will travel north to cement our alliance with the Aedui and begin the war. I pray that victory will soon be ours and I will bring the army to glory in the north.

Casting some glances about the curia, he soon departed. Severus wondered if he would ever see it again. The noise of the forum outside stirred feelings of nostalgia as his heart sank at the thought of leaving the security of Rome for bitter war weighed heavy on his heart.

    A letter arrives from Carthage.

I am now just settling into Africae and I shall soon continue negociations with the Numidians. Updates will be forthcoming.

    Lucius enters the Curia.
Senators, we have a problem. On my way to the Curia, I took a walk past the Rostra. When they recognized who I was, they began yelling, demanding something. One mentioned they had no clean water to bathe in or drink, another said they had no schools to learn to read or write. The Plebians are not happy and it is of the utmost urgency that we deal with this problem immediately.

I would have to agree...Aqueducts and public academies will be needed. It seems that the pipe systems either are broken or becoming old.

Consul Gnaeus arrives and takes his seat within the Senate, listening to what had been said

Aulus, having just recently arrived back in Roma, proceeded immediately to the Senate. By the time he arrived the Senators were already deep in debate regarding the development of water works and schools throughout Roma, something he himself had considered on his sojourn.

A new face asked for an estimate of how much that would cost and Aulus did some quick mental calculations, more memory than arithmetic but effective nonetheless.

"Such a measure would not be cheap," said Aulus, meeting each Senators eye in turn," and would be an investment with little or no return to the Treasury. However to develop Roma and the areas around it would cost roughly 11,000 denarii and a series of schools in Roma would not be beyond "

    1. The following regions be developed with Aqueducts/Improved Roads/Schools/Theatres/Port Developments/Granaries:
    • Italia I
    • Italia II
    • Italia III
    • Italia IV
    • Italia V
    • Italia VI

At a total cost of 11,000 denarii.
"I suggest that before any decision is made on this, we allow our Tribune of the Plebs to review the document and endorse it. Are there any other suggestions or questions?"

"I could provide 1,000 denarii to help cover the cost. If every Senator did the same, we would have more than enough to build these improvements."

"That seems reasonable, however before we continue... there are Magistracies in this senate currently unoccupied, nominations will begin presently and continue for twelve hours. Any Senator not currently holding a Magistracy is eligible for nomination to the remaining positions of Quaestor and Tribune."

Aulus enters the Curia and takes his usual place passing trough both of the Consuls and greets them as he passes.

"Consul Priscus, Consul Tranquilus" he says quickly before moving along.

"Tribune," replied Aulus with a nod.

"Now that you are here I was hoping you could review the recent bill, it concerns a plebeian matter which is in your purview. Furthermore any Senator wishing to find this bill has to simply declare his intent and amount contributed in the Aerarium."

Aulus stopped and sat down near the consules for a moment.

"The bill seems to be in benefit of the people and the and the expenses aren't that high that we couldn't deal with them." Aulus nodded to the Consuls.

"And there seems to be senators willing to put their own assets to support bill." Aulus took look around the Senate quickly. "It seems to be just what people wants from it's leaders."

"Before we proceed to a vote Tribune, I would ask that you personally second it, it would do the people well to feel that their needs are being seen to by their Tribune."

OOC: Thus far we have 6,000 raised, go down to the Aerarium and post your donation as you normally would.
