    Default Project "Titan", a JPOG AAR

    Hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my new AAR: Project Titan, from the game Jurassic Park Operation Genesis.

    This game offers you the possibility of creating your version of Jurassic park and managing it (I may also do an AAR for this). However, it also let's you create your own "Site B". It's an Island where you don't have to worry about money and can create dinossaurs to you hearts content and watch them live and wander around.

    It is in this mode that I will make a study of an Ecosystem I will create and analyse. The first thing I did was creating the Island. I wanted a rainforest/swamp area and a forest/plains area.

    As you can see I divided those 2 areas with a mountain ridge and placed an hatchery (where dinossaurs are born and created) in both sides. I did not sign it on the mao, but in the North East there is an island with a kind of base (it has an helicopter pad, with helicopters you can do various actions with your dinossaurs: sedating, killing, reviving when they're in comma, etc).

    My plan for the island is the following:

    Plains side:

    Initial population:

    4x Brachiosaurus ;
    3x Allosaurus;
    5x Stegossaurus;
    8x Kentrossaurus;
    10x Dryossaurus.

    Swamp side:

    Initial population:

    6x Camarassaurus;
    10x Dilophossaurus;
    8x Dryossaurus;
    5x Ceratossaurus;
    6x Kentrossaurus.

    As the game doesn't have a breeding/mating system, I'll simulate it through creating a new dinossaur of each species for two existant each 6 months. My idea is to see which species thrive, which species become exinct and if there is any that becomes prevalent and expands in great quantity through both sides of the island.

    For those that know Dinossaurs rather well, it's obvious that this is a Jurassic period ecossystem, I may do a Cretaceous one if this goes well.

    EDIT: Some island landscapes (views from the hatcheries):

    MONTH I: DECEMBER 2000
    Ok, first update. It was 5 months before I could get the populations right, but it's now as it should be and I have some interesting results on herds, migrations and already one casualty.

    Here is a map of the island with the herds highlited:

    Plains Area (West):

    The first animals to come out of the Hatchery were the Dryossaurus. They are 10 in total and as they are fast moving, they quicly fled South, away from the scary noise of the Hatchery (see Dryossaurus pack 1 in the map).
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    After them, the Kentrossaurus (8) came, these established themselves near the Hatchery along with the Stegossaurus (5) that arrived after them.
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Shortly after, I created the herd of 4 Brachiossaurus. And then teh 3 Allossaurus that got out of the Hatchery just in the middle of the gigantic Brachiossaurus.
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    The arrival of the Allosaurus caused the Kentrossaurus, Stegossaurus and Brachiossaurus to disperse from the Hatchery area, and I suspect they are going to create separate herds.

    One of the Kentrossaurus was also killed by the waving tail of a Stegossaurus in the middle of the panic caused by the Alossaurus.

    To summarize the activity on the plains here are the populations:

    4 Brachiossaurus (same);
    3 Allosaurus (same);
    5 Stegossaurus (same);
    7 Kentrossaurus (-1);
    10 Dryossaurus same.

    Swamp Area (East):

    In the swamp area peace reigned, the first animals to get out of the Hatchery were the Camarossaurus that quicly formed a herd and went north (probably they will pass the mountain ridge by the sea and join the Brachiossaurus on the other side because these two species are always very close to each other), see the map.
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    After the Camarassaurus, it was the turn of the Dryossaurus and Kentrossaurus getting out of the Hatchery in this side of the map (They are the most well succeeded species intentionally, I want to see how many time they will hold the crown). The Dryossaurus went South and the Kentrossaurus West, for the ridge. After them came the carnivores, first the Ceratossaurus and then the Dilophossaurus. That sums it up for the swamp area.
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Population Summary on the Swamp Area:

    6 Camarassaurus (same);
    10 Dilophossaurus (same);
    8 Dryossaurus (same);
    5 Ceratossaurus (same);
    6 Kentrossaurus (same).

    MONTH 1 Population Totals in the whole island:

    4 Brachiossaurus;
    3 Allossaurus;
    5 Stegossaurus;
    13 Kentrossaurus;
    10 Dilophossaurus;
    5 Ceratossaurus;
    18 Dryossaurus (Thriving Champion).

    The title of Thriving Champion will be given to the most successful each month. Thank you for reading and I'll see you on the next update.

    THE END OF MONTH I AND BEGINING OF II: DECEMBER AND JANUARY 2000 PART 1

    I thought I'd make an update for this period has there were a few very interesting changes between the last one. This time, the swamps were the killing floor. By the end of December the rain came, here is a picture of a Dilophosaurus under the rain in the swamps:
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Situation in the begginig of January:

    Plains Area (West):

    In the plains, the Dryosaurus that had previously migrated south, came back north to meet the Kentrosaurus and Stegosaurus herds that were being constantly harassed by the Allosaurus, the Dryosaurus then became the carnivore's favorite preys, as they don't have spikes to defend themselves.
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    In this area, the Brachiosaurus remained close to the Hatchery and the Allosaurus as they don't represent a threat because of the size difference:
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    However, the rest of the animals of the plains are subject to the danger of the Allosaurus, and the lake where they live can quicly turn from a peaceful place into this:

    To be continued with swamp situation...

    THE END OF MONTH I AND BEGINING OF II: DECEMBER AND JANUARY 2000 PART 2

    Swamp Area (East):

    In the swamp are, the overwhelming number of carnivores ended up steeling the Title of Thriving Chamipon from month I. After their population being severly reduced by the Dilophosaurus and Ceratossaurus, the Dryosaurus have now a population in both sides of the island of 11. Of those 11 only two live in the swamps.

    The Dilophosaurus remained close to the Hatchery and with the Herbivores becoming lesser and lesser, they may very well be canditates to Thriving Champions. However, I doubt they will be so for long, because when the Dryosaurus die out eventually they will have to hunt the better protected Kentrosaurus and no doubt take casualties themselves while doing so.
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    The Ceratossaurus formed a very cooperative and friendly pack. They may have a bright future, as they are able to hunt the Kentrosaurus pretty well. Here you see them sharing the carcass of a Dryosaurus.
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    The Camarassaurus herd halted their walk North and remained almost in the same place. They have the most passive life in this side of the island as there are no predators to match them. If an Allosaurus comes from the other side however, things will change...
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    To sum up, in Early January the island statistics don't lie, the Kentrossaurus protective spikes are being proved as an advantage and they are now tied with the Dryosaurus. Let's see what tiebraker Nature has reserved to us.

    Whole Island Population Results (doing area specific population is now impossible, my apologies for that):

    4 Brachiossaurus (same);
    3 Allossaurus (same);
    4 Stegossaurus (-1);
    11 Kentrossaurus (-2);
    10 Dilophossaurus (same);
    5 Ceratossaurus (same);
    11 Dryossaurus (-7);

    Also, my apologies for the variation between using "ss" and "s" in the animals names, I'm a bit confused by it and I will try to correct it. Thank you for reading!

    Welcome back to the island, today we are finally back and we have a new visual (one of the things you'll notice is a new texture pack) and as always we will look into what's been going on and how the animals are doing, it's with pleasure that I present you the new update:

    MONTH II AND BEGINNING OF MONTH III: JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2001

    Here is the situation in the island on the very first days of February 2001, this time, instead of marking where each species is located, I marked territories of some animals and other areas of interest.

    Plains Area (West):

    On the plains everything pretty muck stayed the same, as we will see later, the Dryosaurus are really dying out and the Kentrosaurus to. The Stegosaurus are also becoming endangered by the endless carnivore hunger. Here are some photos from the animals.

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    The Brachiosaurus herd remained near the hatchery and the ridge, as always they leave very calm lives as the carnivores don't disturb them. They have an higly firendly behavior with eachother and are quite protective and caring to each other. If an Alloasurus dares to come close, they frighten it standing on their back feet and lifting the front of their body.

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    In this two pictures you can see two of the Allosaurus, one of them watches the main lake in the planes for preys and the other closes in on a dead Stegosaurus to investigate it. The Allosaurus as always wonder the planes alone and attack the herbivores grazing and drinking on the lake. This is the heart of the plains.

    Swamp Area (East): WILL BE UPLOADED LATER
