    Default Princesses

How does one search for princesses for faction heirs and leaders? Surprisingly I just managed to lose a game because everyone on my family tree died off when I got of princess-searching :/ I was also getting adoption notices for 2 loyalty generals or 50-year olds so I didn't want them

open console by pressing ~ (tilde) key (or equivalent on non english keyboards)

    type in toggle_fow

look around the map for one click on it with your diplomat

    open console

    type in toggle_fow

your guy should have a line to follow to the nearest princess....(can't see the ones in cities tho....)

if you don't wanna cheat with fog of war (i use it for this only.....but i get tempted sometimes)
then place a diplomat in the andes (border france/spain nowadays), northern italy around milan/venice/bologna, and at hamburg (denmark/germany border) as thats where u see the most traffic at choke points and have the best chance of one coming across you.

No other method? I do this now and it takes so long to find a damn princess sometimes, and sometimes there isn't even one (or I can't find her).

could always marry your own (it was allowed in MTW 1 - but obviously frowned upon by the populace)

it's still possible in MTW 2 and Stainless Steel. My lovesick general actually spawned a mission to marry his cousin.
Makes me wonder how bad the incest traits are ...

I don't think there really is any. At least not from breeding with a relative. In MTW I didn't notice any increase in "Chinless Wonder" etc. from marrying a relative. I did it frequently as the Italians since after a certain point in the game, it seemed no one would let you marry their daughters. I couldn't wait for my prospective heir to find a noble lady. It was very necessary before they fixed that one bug in Viking Invasion that killed your ruler instantly at like the age of 59 or something.

I will leave no one alive in your realm; I will burn your city, your land, your self. If you wish to spare yourself and your venerable family, give heed to my advice with the ear of intelligence. If you do not, you will see what God has willed." -Hülegü, the "Destroyer of Baghdad"

I remember one campaign where I married in family only. Cousins and first cousins ect... After a couple of generations of that it seemed like I stopped producing offspring. It also seemed liked the caliber of offspring diminished. Less loyalty and command stars and of course piety. I don't think, overall, it's a good idea. Makes ya wonder how they pulled it off. You know that kind of stuff was happening all the time back then.

Oh, and original poster. I agree with posting up at bottleneck points if you don't wanna cheat. Send a spy(sight) and a diplomat and wait. Don't forget you put them there though.
