Roman Units rout like crazy?

i am playing on hard map, and battle difficulty. For the first couple battles i had no problems. All of a sudden, I am attacking a Greek army. I have 500 men +500 reinforcements vs an army of 400 hoplitai. I am using the oscan warriors and they have just started attacking 1 UNIT of hoplitai, and then they all start routing. they have taken maybe 5 casualties and there all routing versus just one unit!!! I ended up just letting my reinforcements who is AI kill them. Then on another battle, it happened again! I vastly outnumber my enemies, and my units rout so quickly! They are barely taking any casualties and outnumber the enemy, yet they rout without even taking many casualties. I also tried switching to medium battle difficulty, but same problem. Does anyone else have this problem? I am downloading the hotfix right now and hope it will help, but on the hotfix changelog it does not mention anyhting about units routing ridiculously easily.

Playing as Romans, that could happen if your army is led by a family member who isn't qualified to do so. If that's the case, follow the instructions in the stickied Roman Leadership feature highlight thread.

well thats kinda lame, the general that was leading did not have any special traits, but why should that mean they should rout, if there are fighting a vastly inferior army?
