Default How do you set up your battle lines?

I'm still trying to figure out the best strategy for battle formations. Where do put your heavy swords? Searjents? Where do you put the peasant soldiers? Where do you keep your heavy horse? In Rome they were strictly on the flanks but this time period they are strong enough for full frontal charge against almost any unit.

You can keep them on flanks, but charge them at enemy center with no problem. Nontheless, here is my most typical formation:
    SSSSS
    AAAAA
LC HC HI G HI HC LC

Depends on what faction, and therefor types of units, you have.

For me, with the English for example, I like to have my strongest def troops right in the middle (english foot knights maybe). Flanked left and right by my attacking units (armored swordsmen) with longbows behind them. Behind archers ill usually keep my general, flanked by a couple heavy cav units.

Minimize best troops getting charged while protecting general or inflicting most harm for least casualties on enemy. Usually means using terrain or cheap cannon fodder troops to protect your AP or heavy infantry with HC charging exposed enemy archers or heavy cavalry. If enemy does not show any weakness use light cavalry to charge or feint to draw out enemy or fire with missiles from a distance.

I load up one side with good troops and move the cavalry away to the other side, let them hit the weaker side and slowly overload and surround them with the good troops on the other, while they are busy fighting I get my cavalry to charge and finishing them off as a circle. This way no one runs away and I kill them all. I don't really keep that many archers in my armies usually 2 or 3 at most.
