Doing some downloading at the moment. I have Two Towers extended version and it's 3 hours and 55 minutes long. If I have understood it correctly the extended versions have a lot of smaller lore scenes added. When they fetch Theoden's son from Isen for example.
I have always liked the extented version better simple becouse it is longer enjoyment and more lore wise.I admit that I am happy that some scenes were cut off from the official but afterall I'd go with the longer.

If you buy the extended version you´ll be able to see the mightiest performance of saruman at the beginning of the RotK. He´s almost melting faces with his words of infinite power!
But i dunno what else you´ll probably miss. I´ve only seen the extended dvd´s.
I own both versions, but since i bought extended never watched normal again!!! They got some nice little details.
The extended editions certainly add a lot more nice scenes to the story, so if you can afford it, go for the extended edition.![]()
I'd buy extended as well![]()
Was the scene at osgiliath with Boromir and Faramir in the original as well, cause that was pretty cool.
that is the only new scene I like from the Two Towers EE.The rest are pretty bad and/or give away the ending. RotK has many good new scenes but one is just horrific(the city of the Dead
) so I usually watch the theatrical cut. Not always though. But FotR EE is amazing and my all-time favorite movie!

No it wasn't.
Also in the short version you did not even see that Saruman died, without knowing lotr you would have thought he survied.
But the best extensions are indeed in the first movie, concerning hobbits and the council of Elrond as well as some more scenes with Galadriel.
Man you now made me wanna watch the movies again![]()
The extended is better in my opinion and its the one I own. The extended versions are worth watching if you haven't seen them yet. I would recommend renting the extended and watching them and decide which one you would rather own.
Actually in real lotr lore Saruman does survive, he actually ends up taking over the shire and is known by the alias sharkey. But then Frodo and his gang comes back from their quest and leads a rebellion and then they let him go and THEN he dies to wormtongue after he abuses him (sexually jk jk)!
I know women prefer them extended
but on topic lol i only watched the first one extended and i thought it was better
What is the difference between theatrical and extended edition ?

You definitely need to get the extended edition, especially if you've never seen the extended scenes. Since you're a huge fan of the books you will appreciate the extra scenes!![]()
