    Default Cyber-Punk RPG

I have only the most vague of ideas, a very simple layout and not much in the way of time right now but call this a litmus test of how much people would be interested in doing something akin to this.

    Basic concept:

You are either a gang leader, random punk or citizen who dwells in the extended slums of Lower New Sydney, the year is 2054. You must fight or negotiate your survival in the practically lawless Lower City in the hopes than one day you'll garner enough wealth or influence to get you out of this dump permanently.

Against you is a practically useless and absolutely corrupt judicial system, with the law mostly enforced by private contractors who are little better than a well organised gang. The other people in the Lower City are obstacles too as all of them try to achieve the same thing you're aiming for.

The idea for the game mechanics is that they can be based around a single character, or you can be a character in control of a few NPCs, or you can form large player alliances to control territory, resources, gaining political influence etc.

Basic, I'm just seeing who would be interested. The only clear and obvious problem is that it isn't TW based, at all.

I'd be very interested in something like that - quite willing to lend a hand fleshing it out too, if you need one.

If the idea is to get out of the place, then the reward for playing well with a character is that you no longer get to play as that character?

    On the whole, no.

You'll still be able to play your character and continue playing, there is a whole other set of objectives that come once you're out. If you choose to get out that is.

To be honest, I think it might attract attention from some of the people who don't frequent this forum because it is fairly origional and not TW based. Also, it might attract some attention because it's slightly Deus-exy in tone and in vogue at the moment.

    Cyber-Punk is always in vogue.

I must actually get around to playing the new Deus Ex game.

Oh you should, you should indeed

And of course - it makes us all feel better for living in the present

That sounds incredibly fun. I'll definitely help flesh out the ranks. I could also probably help with the rules or something.
Jon had taken Donal and Benjen’s advice to heart: Sam may be fat and pathetic, but he is still a member of the watch, and one of the few black brothers who isn't a rapist or thief. (out of context, this sounds ridiculously racist)

Currently on my second DE:HR playthrough, the novelty will wear off soon...

At which point I can distil the interesting story elements that worked into functioning game mechanics, and then spend a week or two trying to figure out what I did wrong.

It's worth taking a look at the lore of the origional Deus Ex for that too - there's a lot on the degredation of the urban environment there too.

I've played the original so often that I'm actually sure I can navigate most of the maps with me eyes closed.

A man after my own heart, then - sneaking past weirdly myopic guards never really gets old.
