According to descriptions, Ghulams.
Thank you, Tureuki.
I agree because there are evidence Kypchaks do serve the Khwarezmian army as horse archers, but what about the heavy cavalry? Who are they? Are they Turkmen or Ghulam?
as far s I know Qanglis also fought in their armies.
I'm sorry guys, but most of posts was clearly off topic, so I've deleted them.
Cocroach, I'd like to remind you that excessive off-topic posting is against ToS, so don't waste you time. Also, you could do much better than posting screenshots from 300 as a base of your claims. You will find no ignorants here, so don't waste people's time.

I guess the fun had to end sometime huh? Wudang bringing down the gauntlet
Anyways, got a question about Khwarizmeds. Did they really utilize Cataphract horse archers? From what I have gotten, Horse archer tactics revolve around hit and run styles of fighting, but that doesnt seem to fit the style of Kharezmid cataphracts.
I believe the base of BC Khwarezmian cavalry was image of Khwarezmian cavalryman in Saladin and the Saracens. That figure, on the other hand, is referred to as "the horseman of Transoxania" and is based on archaeological findings and contemporary artistic representations. "The horsemen of Transoxania seem to have been the most thoroughly armoured in eastern Iran" says the description.
He could be ghulam or freeman; Iranian, Turk, Hindu... As for horse archers - heavy cavalryman armed in bow is still a horse archer, but I don't think he could utilize hit and run tactic well. Ghulams were using bows, but could fire a volley in regular formation, not while feign retreat. Heavy cavalryman armed also in bow is accurate, in my opinion.
Interesting... So persian Cataphract horse archers and lancers were the Khwarezmids equivalent to Ghulam units utilized by the Seljuks and the Abbasids. I know its off topic but I got to ask: how did mongol horse archers pierce the Cataphracts armour and rout such heavily armoured cavalry? I read that they mainly won from blitzkrieg style assults and massive, well planned ambushes, but I want to know the science on how an arrow could pierce that much armour.
Kwarezmian cavalry could be win over Mongols under a good commander.
