Curious, the log is kind of chopped of.

    1. Did you add a sub mod or edit one of the files?
    2. Or did you do anything else with CoW or the main game?
    3. Does the main game and one of the other campaigns start?
    4. Is a steam install or regular?

Please apply this tutorial as from step 3 onward and try again: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems

The tutorial doesn't apply to XP.

The power cut could have had some effect, I would suggest to re-install CoW.

I have the same issue and have had it from the start with 1.4. I have exactly the same setup only its a steam copy.

Tried a re-install. It didn't do any good. Any thoughts? I first installed 1.4, then the cumulative 1.4.4 patch. Same problem with both. I get to the title screen that happens right before the video, but then the unexpected error crashes the program. I've tried using it as the teutonic mod, and I get all the way to and past the video, but then the menu options are all blank.

I responded in the other thread, but I would recommend this:

    1. Delete your present installation of CoW
    2. Follow this tutorial from step 3 onward, restart your computer after deleting the folder in the virtual store
    3. Instal CoW again
    4. Make it Steam compatible with this tutorial: Creating a World - Mod Install for Steam

Thanks, I appreciate the help. However, the first tutorial you linked is 404ing.

Okay, using the steam launcher, I get to the main menu, but the items are blank. I think that means I need to install a language pack. I'll try that.

Oh, and thank you! This is the first real progress I've had in 48 hours.

Okay, English translation didn't do it... hmmm

Try this one: CoW 1.4.4 - Installer for multiple languages

Not sure what happened to the link of the first tutorial (corrected it), try this one again: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems

Whooo! I got it to work! I ended up re-installing via the CoW Easy and Painless installation. Thank you SO much for the help.
