    Default Cossacks 2 Problems

I seem to be having some trouble running Cossacks 2. I fear that it is because Windows 7 is not compatible wiht this game. Everytime i try to run the game i get an error that says:

Engine.exe has detected, that video memory is not configured porperly. Please restart computer and set AGP Aperture size = 256 MB or more in the BIOS configuration program.

Now i have no idea what the AGP Apertture thing is. I know how to get in my BIOS settings. Just no idea what AGP Aperture is. Can anyone help me on this?

Buy it on Steam for $4.99, it runs fine for me and I have Windows 7 x64.

:/ This is my cossacks i got years ago. I installed the patches i could find to see if anything changes, but that didn't work either.

EDIT: Can someone show me how to change your APG Apeture settings? I know how to get into your computers BIOS, but not how to change the APG apeture settings.

Do you even have an AGP card?

Not even sure. This game is so old i might just end up re-buying it since Hilarion said he had no problems with it.

If you're running Win7 then I highly doubt you have an AGP slot in that system unless it's 4-8 years old. I suspect a compatibility problem with Win7 and Cossacks 2 myself. Be aware - I've never played this game so these instructions are purely by the seat of my pants.

Try to find the folder that you installed Cossacks in. Look for the executable file - an educated guess would be cossacks2.exe. Right click it, choose Properties in the pop-up menu and select the Compatibility tab. Set the .exe to run under XP SP3 for compatibility. See if this solves your problem. Good luck!

EDIT: You might also consider uninstalling the game and reinstalling it in the Program Files folder - not the (x86) version. If you do so disable the UAC before reinstalling.

I tried finding a solution to this myself, I found something
that fixes the original Cossacks 2 game & allows you to
play the expansion on skirmish with all factions but on the
Battle for Europe campaign map Spain, Rhine & Poland are
rebel factions, didn't try see what happened when you play
them on the campaign but I didn't want to try.

Unfortunately I deleted it from my computer so I don't
even know the file name, I think it was made by some
    guy called Zog.

This works for some people but it didn't
    for me, worth trying though.

I'd advise like others to get the Steam version instead, very
cheap & works perfectly without the hassle, I did so myself
after being unsatisfied for the fix for my boxed version -.-

Damn, I had the same problem when I installed it and I found the solution. Basically you need something like an .exe to run it from there but I don't remember what exactly it was. What I had done was to write the exact details of the problem in google and then I found a page with the solution. What's sure is that it's just a compatibility issue, your game is just fine, no need to buy another one. If you don't find the solution I'll try search for it.
