Faustus' Campaign Speeches

Faustus arrived at the speakers platform and took it swiftly and with a smile on his face. "Ave people!" Faustus let out a jubilant wave to the people, he was thrilled to be there...to be given a chance to serve this people again for a third time, and hopefully a second conservative time. "I stand before you not as a politician but as one of you, the people." Faustus paused briefly. "I have been elected Tribune twice thus far...I have well represented you in the Patrician Senate and I have done everything to protect the rights of the people and I will do whatever is necessary to protect you and expand your rights!" Faustus was vigorous in his tone and in his manner. "I ask you all for your support in the coming elections...I ask you for support in my quest to protect you." Faustus was planning on making another speech soon.

Faustus was present when his rival, if one could call such a lowly pawn of the Patricians that decided to make the campaign personal and attacked Faustus. "Recently comments have been made about me by Aulus...have any of you listened? I doubt it, a pawn of the Senate Patricians is surely seeking to further his own power and his own glory...whatever the cost." Faustus remembered in Aulus's speech he attacked him for the standing legions debate. "People of Rome, I am indeed a proponent of having a professional army, Rome needs a constant force to protect itself...levying does not always work. The People of Rome, you, need jobs and need to feed your families and my idea would further create jobs and allow you to feed your families. Aulus seeks to keep you down and tamed, in order to allow his directors to further the divide between the Patricians and you, the Plebeians!" Faustus boasted an invigorated tone and had his supporters throughout the crowd, however many their was. "People, instead of electing a "true" pawn, elect a true Plebeian, a true Tribune of the Plebeians."

And what have you done for us in your two years of tribune eh? The call comes from a middleaged man in the middle of the crowd. Men like Scaeva are buying up our farms while we did nothing in your standing legion, hows a man meant to make a profit when he isnt there to take in the harvest? I here in Rome 'cos the pittence that is a soldier's pay isn't enough to feed my family, so I had to sell everything I own! What are you going to about men like me?

"It is why I have sought to increase the pay of the soldiers who are constantly vigilant in the defense of the Republic." Faustus responded to the Plebeian who stuck out of the crowd. "I introduced reforms for the military but they were shot down by Senators who are afraid of change, they were afraid of taking from their pockets and putting them into the pockets of soldiers."
