The Death of Decimus Artilius
Decimus Artilius has perished, and a dark cloud hangs over his house. Within the Temple of Concordia a shriek was heard at the same moment Artilius breathed his last. After spending ten days bringing up black bile -a bad omen- he expired just before noon. It is rumored that the gods had punished Artilius for constantly seeking to sew discord among the senatorial class. Whatever the case, the man who had served three consecutive terms as consul lay dead, an emaciated shell of his former self. His family began a period of mourning and made preparations for his funeral outside the city.
Since Artilius has named no heirs in his will, his estate shall become the property of the State. The I Artilii shall transfer to the Senate as well.
