Any thoughts about a best replacement for under £100?
Radeon 5770 maybe?
Strong budget card or used to be when i had one atleast.
Then there are the GTX 560/460 might be able to find one under a €100 if your lucky, the later 460 will be easier to find though at a better prise.

Thanks....just got myself one of these - the same as the 5770 just with added Blu-Ray 3D support:

Thats exactly what I was going to suggest
Tone - I just upgraded to a 460GTX for £130.00 a couple of months ago and I had a GTX275 which I passed onto the guy as a part ex, if your still stuck I can speak with him as I only had the card for 14 months and it was working 100% with all games, and I reckon he will sell it cheap?
EDIT: just seen your post above that you got sorted!
May god have mercy on her soul, Did u give her a proper burial ?

I'm sure Tone has his new card by now.

Yes, I have, but actually it seems way slower than my previous Gerforce 8800GT and is stuttering in battles at the same resolution. Just in the process of updating the drivers to the latest Catalyst version 11.8 to see whether that will improve performance.
I might end up moving this to the technical support subforum!
Now I can't load the game at all as it's saying that it failed to find DirectX 9! grrrrrrr....and the DirectX diagnostic tool says that Direct3D functionality is not available i.e. no hardware acceleration.
Tried various things but have returned to an older version of catalyst - version 11.4 seems to be working, but getting nasty artefacts and cutting out as well:

I have a 5670 with 11.5 and that is OK. What kind of processor/motherboard do you have? Also, have you checked on the Basement thread - some very knowledgeable hardware geeks hang around there.

You should definitely research and make sure your board supports your GPU properly also. I had one malfunction so hard once it fried my HD (the same GPU is working fine now with the same board, but that's because I figured it out and updated the BIOS for the board - at the cost of a totally FUBAR 500GB HD, though). You might also try uninstalling and clearing your registry of RTW and start your installs from scratch if the game and/or registry files got corrupted when your old GPU died (rare, but it can happen, especially if you were in the middle of a game when it went). Just a couple things to look into. I'm sure there's other stuff you could check, too, but that's just what came to mind.
Unfortunately despite completely reinstalling windows and putting in new Radeon drivers, the performance is way worse than my old Geforce 8800GT (I wish I'd stayed with Nvidia now). Loads of artefacts, freezes, and I'm unable to play with vegetation on high any more. I used to maximise antialiasing and have all settings on high but most of the time now I end up having freezes and crashes.
Not sure whether this is because I'm still using XP (although the drivers are supposed to be good for that) or whether it's my ABIT IP35 Pro motherboard (although there are others getting good game performance from that with new Radeon cards).
Is it only R:TW and R:TW based mods that this is happening? Do you have any other games and does the problems happen in them as well?
If you have a Steam account there are usually some free demos you could use.
