    Default Too much money?

First off I love this mod and the hard work you have all put into it. Everything about this Mod is great except one thing and that is the income levels. It really does not matter which faction you take but by about turn 30 you are anywhere from 30k-100k which is just ridiculous. I am easily a below average player playing on H/H and this is without using merchants and usally just having 3-4 countries.

I know that using BYG's would eliminate this problem but as I stated above I am a below average player and I find BYG's way to difficult for me. Is there a way you can fix this problem for the next version? This did not happen in 6.3 just 6.4 and not being a modder I have no idea how it happens.

I love the changes and fixes in 6.4 but I think I will have to switch back to 6.3 unless there is some simple fix out there.

Well the easiest is to increase costs of units and buildings. I actually think buildings are rather cheap. Alternatively a war tax could be scripted since wars in MTW2 don't cause the damage to an economy that they did in real life. Not only lost of trade but devastation from raids and conscription. Foraging and breaking infrastructure etc. So a war tax proportional to how many regions are controlled. IE- 5 region kingdom gets taxed 1,500 per turn while war is on. 300 per province means a 15 region kingdom would get taxed 4,500 per turn while at war. So then its important to have periods of peace to build up a war chest. The tax is the economic loss that war brings. It wouldn't be perfect since some wars are more devastating compared to others and some kingdoms have less of a loss for example if Venice controls the seas it might not suffer much trade loss from a war compared to the ERE it is fighting. However as something that can be relatively easily scripted it might work.

The only problem is scaling... as an empire develops and cities get larger a constant scripted war tax becomes less of a burden.

Im playing on Savage AI. I am running two campaigns atm one is a hotseat with GF. I am Genoa while she is Sicily. I have over 100k before turn 25 in that one and only own Genoa, Pisa, and the two Islands just south of Genoa. I am at war with the Moors and Aragorn. I have 3 large armies and no merchants. Basically the only way I can lose money is if I give it away. The GF is in the same boat but she has a bit less as she has been bribing nations join an alliance. She at war with the Moors and only has Bari other than her starting settlements.

It really takes away alot of the fun of the game as having this much money makes the game super easy.

Devildogxs, you have to keep in mind that with savage your not at war with everyone u get a rather large trade boost with your neighboring factions (assuming you have trade rights) and with the exception of pirates you dont really need to worry about people blockading your ports etc etc. If savage AI is too easy for you i would def go to gracul ai because 1. you don't have nearly as much money. and 2. You need every spare florin u can get your hands on to fight off the enemy. I really dont think the designers are doing anything wrong with SS i think its more of an difficulty issue VH/VH Gracul ai will take care of that money problem lickety split

In next version of my submod I plan to double the unit training costs and possibly building costs. So look that up in few weeks time.

    just a guess...
    u playing denmark??
cause they dont get immediate major wars, and the hanseatic league fill ur coffers really fast...

if not, just wait till the begins, then money will be scarce...

How many troops do you have, just a few in each city?

Are you building improvements in all your cities?

What era are you playing (late or early)?

I started a new Early campaign with Gracul on H/H. I am playing as Leon while the GF is using Aragon. So far everything is ok. I have taken Burgos while she has taken pamplona. We are both allied with Portugal but not with each other. The Moors I am sure will attack me very shortly as they have a diplomat at one of my cities just sitting there which is usually I find a precursor to war. I find that Savage is more realistic in terms of diplomacy but Gracul is for sure much harder and so far a lot more fun. I do upgrade my cities but I never build merchants or use them as find that their use really makes money generation to easy, but I do practice up on AI(and my GF's ) merchants with assassins. I usually try and get upgraded armor first and then work on getting light men at arms and better archer units. I really like these javelin guys so far they are pretty darn good in a pinch.
