Agreed. Empire is just so darn complex... it has the fun elements, but after a while it becomes tedious having to manage every little bit of your empire... I just want to take control of the armies and a few buildings...

You must not speak of the Unholy!!

Seriously talking SS is more simple and better looking, but there is not much to talk about it. Bashing threads are frowned on.

    Stainless Steel vs empire
    Yea, SS is much better
    SS vs Darthmod empire
They are equal good. You really can't play empire without Darthmod.
However it's almost the same with M2TW. Vanilla M"TW is not as bad as Empire but SS is still much better.

I've tried Darthmod - and yes, it adds more interest to unit selection, making battle more picturesque, the underlying changes are not that obvious, but the overall game becomes easier, much easier than vanilla.

I dont know i play SS and i love it , but also i Play Napoleon and i love it too. It depends on the mood if i wanna kick some ass with my early modern army ill play Napoleon but if i want to slash some ppl with my heavy knights then i play SS or Third Age

Graphically speaking, I thought Empire was inferior. The lands just don't look as polished to me. The game is also slow as hell, that or my comp just can't handle it anymore. DarthMod is probably the best, but even it has problems. I don't like the way they have the recruitment displays set up. It's so damn difficult to get what you want. The font size is also a massive issue. And DarthMod simply has WAYYYYYYY to many units to choose from. The unit selection is so concentrated that it's to damn hard to see.

I like Napoleon better than Empire but I am not sure if I enjoy either very much. The large regions with a single capitol bother me more than a bit. Capturing Spain or France from defeating a single city is weird. Also while there are differences between units the differences are much less apparent in most battles compared to both MTW2 and mods and Shogun 2. So in the end the battles play out nearly identically and it gets boring much quicker.

Shogun 2 is much better than either though it has its own issues.

I forgot about the massive provinces in Empire. It's so disproportionate. If you unify Germany as Prussia or anyone for that matter, you're instantly stronger than France. You've got like 8 provinces to France's 2 on the continent. I don't know what they were thinking making the game like that. Yeah, France and Spain just look hideous having only like 2 provinces, forming super regions. Just looks hideous.

Hopefully someday, they'll figure out how to mod the regions and add more.... assuming that's possible.

I also really didn't like how Brazil was absent along the with the Indies and Africa etc. The poor Dutch and Portuguese needed their colonies there. Would have also made for some more interesting things. I don't know, good premise but the game was flawed I felt. Perhaps Empire 2.

There are forums to discuss Empire and Napoleon. Keep it on topic or it's lockdown time

actually I really like Empire, except the world map(mentioned above) and the siege...
(come on, you can't fire by ranks on the wall? and why can't I repair the wall after battle?)

Never bought Empire but I heard Medieval 2 was the "last frontier" for real Total war modding because creative assembly wanted to get creative so they decided to instead sell some DLC's...
Is the "flying dutchmen" glitch still rampaging Empire games? ^^
