    Icon13 Triumphs bad...

    Well the year is 192BC, and I have 28 family members. Even mostly on the defensive loyalty takes a hit on number of enemies killed. I currently control all of Italy + Mediolanum and Patavium and am besieging Lilybeon now for control of Sicily. I have also taken 2 provinces from Macedon for Senate missions. My dangerous generals are;

Quintus the Victor - 7 stars, 10 influence, Popular Hero, 10 Victories for Rome, Spectacular Triumph (This man has killed so many enemies of Rome that there is no count. This man is Worshiped by the people, and feared by the Senate that he has become the next Sulla).

Vibius Julius - 5 stars, 8 influence, Great Vanquisher, 10 Victories for Rome, Great Triumph (This man has killed at least 80,000 enemies of Rome, this makes him popular among the masses but feared by many in the Senate).

Amulius Julius - (Quintus' son) 6 stars, 9 influence, Vanquisher, Great Triumph

I started doing some testing with the loyalty and have had them revolt alone while building sentry towers, in command of a legion or while in a town. I tried putting them into a town to rebuild loyalty as
Hesus suggested in a thread from July but that didn't help. Someone else said Roman generals revolted all the time but I don't think it was as prevalent during this time period as it was later in the empire.

My question is does putting the general into a city where he is not the "managing" general help at all?
And do cities in Italy replenish loyalty any faster than say a city in Macedon?

oh and a sidenote I noticed an odd little tidbit left in the descriptions of so far every ship I have seen.
"This has been added for a code fix. Do not re-translate. Please speak to Luci." It's at the top of Pirate ships, bireme and trireme descriptions. Just an FYI. Mod is wonderful so far.

    Hi,

On the ships, that is a RTW message, I have no idea why its there, but its not worth a patch even if its fixable. Remember I had to use the Options BI to get BI features in RTW and that caused a couple small bugs in the game like all thefactions starting out with roman buildings being one that comes to mind.

    As for your other questions.

Leaving a general in any ctiy you own with an academy will replinish his loyalty over time, but its not as fast as the possiblity of losing loyalty in the field. Also some generals are just Born more loyal than others. RTW is very limited on what you can do. I suggest just play the game and see what happens after all the whole Idea is surpise, who wants to know when a general will revolt and take the legion with him. lol

Usually the rule is just fight and use your generals and when they revolt they revolt. I added the feature so I wouldn't know WHEN a general would revolt which in turn made the game more challenging and fun for me.

BTW I just seen your post,

    Ahh ok thank you Lt.

Yes I don't mean to try and change when/ if a general revolts, just an overall practice I want to get going, bring them back to Italy every few years, sweet model using Julius Caesar as the template for loyalty though. Lots of victories = grab for power. lol

Precisely that. I had my favorite legions rebel. Especially during early conquests, the most experienced legion can be really a painful hit to expansion ideas of mine. When its all silver chevron, boy, I WENT MAD!

Lol, a common problem we all have to suffer, i lost a full legion just recently, yes the double silver chevron type and then some. The problem here was that i'd lost track of who was where and accidently put a retired, what i considered borderline, general in charge of a stack babysitting a bridge. A turn or two later and oh mama ......

I bit the bullet though, no going back from that one, all's fair in love and war etc. However, not sure if this has been done yet or covered in another post perhaps - i have a diplomat en route with the hopes of a bribe to win them back!

Yep i discovered this lastnight, my diplomat finally arrived after several turns crossing an entire continent, i hadn't considered that there might not be a bribe option lol

Well it presents an opportunity atleast as this is the first time that i've triggered the Marius reforms in SPQR ever (cheers out loud!!).
This has not long happened, in the last decade or so, 45BC i'm currently at, i'm not sure if that's good or bad or average time wise for the reforms.

So, to strike out with my first Marius legion and meet this usurper general and see how well my new legionnaires fair.

The Roman rebel army does have a slight advantage though, they're sitting pretty on that bridge, same bridge i sent them to defend haha!!

I think they do not rebel when garrisoned in a fort. On the borders I create forts and leave them in there, none rebelled so far...

Yeah same here, and this is something i've been wondering now for some time. I guess the question is, although they might not rebel, do they still bleed loyalty while stationed in forts, or do forts effectivly act like towns/cities, preseving or increasing loyalty even? It's a peculiar one and i'd be intersted to find out.

My theory is, they can't rebel in a fort but as soon as you send that army out with a dubious general and end the turn, you can bet on them revolting.
