Default How can I prevent the HRE from doing this?

Almost every time I start up the 1399's era with Austria, Bohemia somehow becomes the Emperor, even if I'm 200 relation with the electors and have alliances and royal marriages set up with them. When I get atleast one elector who'll vote for me, Bohemia passes all these insane reforms that removes voting privileges and starts war with me and the rest of the Electors. How can I prevent Bohemia from doing this/gaining the throne?

you could beat them in a war, I think that reduces imperial authority. Make sure you get some good allies to help though, bohemia is a very powerful country. Alternativly, you could conquer land outside the empire, and build up your country. Also in devine wind the emperor likes to conquer lots of land in the name of the empire. However, they get the unlawful imperial territory modifier, which gives them +.25 infamy per province every year or so. I have seen bohemia wrack up over 40 infamy just due to having so many of the illegal provinces, which means no one voted for them.

Make sure to build up relations with all the electors early and keep them good too, it's pretty easy with Austria since you have a large income and the electors are small so the gifts are less then 10 gold or whatever the currency is.

Also, the reform that removes voting privileges is one of the later ones, if you can't get good relations with electors by that time you are in trouble.

Thanks for the advice, managed to get some pretty powerful countries to help me, we only won by a small margin. As for the privileges being removed, that happened in 1401 along with the HRE becoming a hereditary rule, when all of the electors except one was going to vote for me. Is that supposed to happen so early into the game?

Not in vanilla divine wind it shouldn't, they would need like 200 imperal authority or something like that, and I don't know how tthey would get that in less then 2 years. Could you post what the imperial decisions are in order?

edit: Actually I'm going to bed, by the time i look at this thread again I will probably have played the game so I will try and look at the HRE situation and see if theres anything else I can advise you on.

It's impossible for Bohemia to pass any of the reforms by 1401.

Bohemia started passing mostly all the reforms in 1401.

What Akar said. That makes no sense. Are you running a mod?

Go to the post where I posted v4.1b and click the last edited part, then compare them and you'll see I said I was running the latest HTT version.

That's the normal checksum. You could try reinstalling the game. Something has obviously been messed up.

Should I just delete the cache in the map folder or do as you suggested and completely reinstall the game?

They should need 50 Imperial Authority to pass even a single reform. If they're passing all or most of them by 1401 something is very wrong indeed. If the problem persists after a reinstall I'd suggest going to tech support on the Paradox site.
