Download from MegaUpload... Problems

Hello again, everyone! I'm finally back on the TWCenter. Apologies to anyone who was following my Outremer campaign, but my computer blew up. Turning it on resulted in rainbows of colors across the screen or a blue-screen that couldn't decide if it was blue or black.

Now I have a new computer on Windows 7, and I'm trying to get Stainless Steel. I realize that Steam causes problems, so I installed via disc again. I keep trying to use the megaupload download of SS 6.3, but it keeps telling me I can't open the file. Windows 7 is supposed to be able to do this by itself, but it doesn't, so I downloaded the 7-zip 64bit version, and -that- doesn't work. I used to use 32bit, should I just go back to that? Or am I missing something?

You should have five *.bin files and an exe to execute the installer. So, do you have an installer downloaded ?
Have you disabled UAC ?

You never open .bin files. That is something the installer/setup.exe does for you.

Installer .EXE: Filefront or MegaUpload (3mb)
(needs all of the following parts [the bin files] in the same folder to work)
SS 6.3 Part 1: MegaUpload (596mb)
SS 6.3 Part 2: MegaUpload (599mb)
SS 6.3 Part 3: MegaUpload (599mb)
SS 6.3 Part 4: MegaUpload (599mb)
SS 6.3 Part 5: MegaUpload (66mb)

So, I save the various bin files into the Mods folder, then run the exe?

Into any folder. The exe installs the mod into the mods folder.

I have not disabled UAC, by and by. Still downloading files. What is UAC?

Problems again!! I tried to run SS after installing it, and it informed me that Steam was detected on my computer, and upon starting, it said SS had suffered a fatal error and will now exit, in two different error messages.

The 6.4 topic has instructions on how to deal with UAC. Otherwise google is your friend. The error indicates a bad install and as you used the disc version you should click "no" when you get asked about steam. Have you run the campaign setup yet? Early, late, watchtowers, AI selection... found in ss_setup.exe?
