    Default Dale Army and Campaign

Im Playing my third Campaign on VH/VH i have already finish with High Elves and Silvan Elves , so i started with Dale and im playing with MOS 6.1 , im having alot of trouble with dale their army is like really compare to the elves and im not in the best of times =/ , Right now i have and invasion called for Esgaroth and Rhun kicking my ass really bad i have Dale , Esgaroth , Lonsdale , Riverrun , Dorwinion is under Siege by Rhun , Rhovanost that is under siege by Rhun and Wrakyaburg is under siege by Orcs of Misty Mountains.

(Evil Armies have alot of Stacks and Mordor has alot and alot of endless army but is because im playing with the stronger mordor sub-mod and Eastern Shadow with all evil forces gather to mordor to bring hell to the free peoples Xd)

I have and Alliance with the Silvan and Dwarf.

Any Strategies or suggestions , also maybe the problem is im to used to battle llike elven style , archers, archers and more archers = alot of killing and zero causalities but with dale it does nit work and their infantry is kinda of poorly efficient.

I don't play this game, but on LOTR TW, Dale's best advantage is their archers...From what I have seen in this particular game, the same still applies. Use your cannon fodder spearmen to hold the line and make pincushions out of your enemies with your archers.

I think Rhun's is better... but I haven't played as Dale for a while!
Do you mean they have the best economy of the 'good' factions?

    @Oli the Great:
I found the best thing to do as Dale was ally with Silvans, and either hope that they or the Dwarves take the Orcish castle North-West of you, or take it early yourself and then GIVE it to the Dwarves/Silvans... Then concentrate on Rhun and hope that the elves don't fall to Mordor too soon. The rebel settlement in the East (Kugavod?) is rushed by Dwarves and Rhun early - so get over there quick and hope there's an allied army to assist with the seige (plus the bridge there is an EASY defense - watch that the enemy stacks don't come round the back though - there's another crossing North-East)
Then rush to get the castle in the South (Uldoveron?) and start building up some nice armies to defend it. If you manage to get Kugvod in the North East I'd head East of there and then wipe Southwards down the map, moving your front line settlement by settlement. You should be in a strong position from there...

Army-wise... train longbows wherever possible - their range and extra power is definietly needed vs Rhun's troops when compared to crappy woodsmen! Use Hearth Watchmen as your basic line inf, use Dale Inf vs armoured cav, use Rivermen as well - they can quickly pound the enemy's approaching front lines before they get to your men and can sometimes turn the tide of the battle in your favour. Dale cav sucks early game... but get a couple when you can to mop up and charge down archers etc... without cavalry you're in for a tough ride!

    Good luck!

what the hell are you doing in Wrakyaburg? your priority should be taking Uldonavan.

QFT. I played Rhun not Dale but from my experience whoever hold Uldonavan wins. Having a castle so early in the game makes a world of difference (gets you troops 1 tier above what your enemies can recruit at that point).

I Was on My Way to Uldonavan but Rhun capture it and the Invasion called on Esgaroth cause me to stop my invasion and send some reinforcements to the capital and wrakyaburg i sold it to the elves so no problem there but lost Dorwinion to a large Rhun stack and manage to break the siege of Lonsdale. Now im using Rhovanost as the starting point of my new invasion to uldonavan while trying to defend from this invasion and try to get Dorwinion back. My economy is not bad the problem is not money is the battles the Dale early units kinda of cheap and not efficient.

Already are to Nazgul generals on their way to Esgaroth , 1 Haradrim army and 1 From Isengard. so im pretty much dead =/, i guess i just gonna star t again.

So easy with the elves , human armys are wierd.

If you take Uldonavan before Rhun, they should be done for. It's the only castle they can access in the area (next closest is Thoronburg, but that's pretty far away.

I know you but the situation is not that Rhun already have Uldonavan and are attacking badly and i got an invasion on me. >.> , The problem is that the Dale units (ARMY) are weak or not efficient against Easterlings forces (Rhun) , and Mordor is on its way with the invasion army along with harad , im totally screwed =[

Try to fight as guerilla's, alot of archers in skirmish mode can help alot to weaken the enemy, when they are comming close to you, retreat from the battle. The enemy army has been weakened and the real battle or siege will be easier. To cancel the enemy invasion on Esgaroth, just give it to Rhûn as a gift, so the invasion will end, and then take it back in the next turn when it is almost empty, so it will be easy to take back.

Yeah that can be really annoying. Especially if you don't have cavalry...

I'm sure that this makes the game quite a bit easier, but it seems kind of cheap to me(personal preference), and not something a true rule of Dale would do

Actually this thread made me want to start a new campaign with Dale as my current Harad campaign has turned out to be boring to say the least (it takes forever to do anything: develop economy, march troops from recruitment centers to the front line and back for retraining etc and also having one single enemy that's being pressured by Mordor as well makes the campaign too easy for my taste).

I have not played with MOS yet, but I can say that capturing and holding Uldonavan is key. I will also suggest to capture Kugavod and then sell it to the Dwarves. Doing this provides you with a relatively safe North Eastern flank and makes it much more likely that the Dwarves will go to war with Rhun.

Don't sell kugavod, it's the richest province in the game (in my experience). It's wealth is insane. With a good governor it can reach 10000 profit each turn.

Ok guys let me tell you my current situation in my Dale campaign.

First the problem in my campaign is not money i am generating good money.

Second right know i hold Dale, Esgaroth (is a little destroyed since i just defended it from 2 invasion armys from mordor and break 1 siege by 1 army of Rhun) , Lonsdale , Riverrun , Araw (Front Line) , Rhovanost (Western Front Line) and manage to recapture Dorwinion (Northern Front Line now) my allies the dwarfs have capture Kugavod. Meanwhile in Mirkwood the Silvan Elves (my other Allies) have manage to pull mordor back to Dol Guldur but lost Amon Gastal to Orcs of Misty Mountains. And i am assembling a siege force to take Uldonavan and take fight yo the Heart of Rhun

Don't do it with just 1 army, 2 armies and an extra stack to cover them because in my experience the enemy come's with more stacks to the settlement to attack your siege armies.
