If there is a 6.2, I would just like LT to consider what I find is an issue with ZOR. Late in my first campaign with SPQR 6.0, while using the Legionaires available after Marius, I discovered to my dismay that I could neither merge or retrain any of these units, anywhere, other that with the same named Legion or where they were created. Thus, my often banged up units, depleted and sickly, became virtually useless unless I just wanted to use them up to the last man. I realize what the 'intent' of ZOR is/was, but this side-affect is too me pretty significant and unrealistic. I can't imagine that if, hypothetically, soldiers from different units at war for Rome were to show up at a barracks, and the Generals wanted to make a still usable army out of what was left of their men, they would say:" Well, you have to go back to (wherever) to get new weapons buddy. Sorry", or "We can't add you guys to this unit because your Legion number is different. So go get killed!" Reality suggests that if different soldiers turned up in a neutral area, all from different ZOR's, the generals would still want to make the best armies possible from what's left of the available men. I've looked into how I could possibly change this myself, but the solution is unfortunately a rather major hack of an otherwise great mod. Is there a way to change at least the merging issue, or is this just a "live with it" issue??
its doubtful, LT said he would want to move to the Late Roman period. i dont even think that 6.1 was planned before 6.0 came out.
DVK901, That is because FIRST cohorts are only suppose to have ONE per Legion, not an army of them. The standard Cohorts can merge just not the first cohorts as they are there to give the Legion a NAME and NUMBER. ;-) lol
1 General
1 1st Cohort with Name
9 Cohorts
2 archers
2 Cavalry
2 Javelin
Should equal a good balanced Legion, if you play how the mod was intended.

so how exactly do you merge units by the way. Ive been playing spqr since version 3.0 and never really figured out how.

its just an easy "drag and drop" with unit cardsso how exactly do you merge units by the way. Ive been playing spqr since version 3.0 and never really figured out how.
oh well thatnk you does it do anythig with the unit experience

Ah h3ll, I feel like a dummy now! Thanks for straightening me out. Didn't know you were only supposed to put one in an army.![]()
I use the auto-merge button "m". Cuts down on a lot of tedious D & D ing.
"My God, I wish we had the 9th Australian Division with us this morning."
- - Major-General Francis de Guingaund, Chief of Staff, Allied Land-Forces Headquarters Europe, D-Day, 1944
"Australian troops had, at Milne Bay, inflicted on the Japanese their first undoubted defeat on land. Some of us may forget that, of all the allies, it was the Australians who first broke the invincibility of the Japanese army."
— Field Marshal Sir William Slim.
"m" has its downsides, I'd rather have 10 units with 100 men in them than 7 units with 160 and 1 with 30. Tiny units usually get sent to the rear.

Lt,
Would you revisit SPQR 6.1 after MTW 2 is released? It would be fantastic if some of the promised MTW 2 features, such as the removal of clone units, could be incoporated in to your awesome mod.
Cheers for all the hardwork in making SPQR.

Does your mod have a site, i would be glad to create one for you.![]()
Nope no site. lol BUt I dont think SPQR needs one, its had tens of thousands of downloads just from the 3 main sites and word of Mouth. ;-)
On M2, I would get too excited about that game YET! For one I have a feeling you would need ALOT more power than we have now available for PCs, plus we have no Idea what bugs may be in it, look at how many in RTW and how long it took to fix most, and there still are bugs added becuase of the patches.
So I for one am not running out to buy M2 mainly because I wish to wait and see what the reviews are from Fans and also the modding options and problems with the new game. Also I believe the game is using the SAME RTW engine, just refined.

I still can't believe how CA can realease a patch that adds new problems to a game.
Lets just pray for a relatively bug free Mtw2 andmake it easily modable.

With people getting Raped, tortured, killed in Africa and other countries I doubt God would hear those type of prayers.
Pessimism is the one great self-fulfilling prophecy
We should never expect mediocrity, for we are much more likely to get it.
this time I believe CA is going to get it right or at least alow others to make it so.

CA are far more likely to get it right this time around. first time they were implementing a whole new engine. this time around they are refining an exsisting game which they are far more familiar with. it is bound to have its faults, but will all in all be a far more playable game i think.
