Default Changing a mod to use Alexander.exe

How do I go about doing this?

I'm trying to change TE Gold to run off ALX.exe instead of RTW 1.6 - that way units can swim/AI retrains units etc.

However when I try to run the mod off Alexander it CTD's on startup, requiring me to hit the Esc key to get out =/

I'm not very experienced with this myself, but I believe you have two options:

1: You make a modfoldered version of the game, and put it in the alexander folder of the RTW directory (and change the shortcut target etc. etc.)

2: You delete the alexander folder (just the folder!!!) and then add " -noalexander" without the quotes to the target of your RTW-ALX shortcut.

Always be careful, because some files may have to be reworked in oreder to make them compatible (espescially if you want your units to swim, you'll have to rework the export_descr_unit.txt)

Hope one of these works for you...

Hey,you need chat san in your mod folder, and this as in my TE.
    Target location.
    "G:\RTW TEG2\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-ALX.exe" -mod:terrae_expugnandae -show_err -nm -noalexander

You need to alter the red part to your mod location.

There`s no such thing as RTW v1.6 and can_swim is a BI only feature. So that makes a rather confused first post. Then of course, there`s a thread on exactly this subject(converting a rtw mod for atw) in the tutorials section. One just need to search.

    Derp >_>

My main reasoning for getting ALEX.exe was simply to improve the AI's behaviour - it is smarter in Alexander than RTW 1.5 is it not?

    And 1.6 was just a typo ¬_¬

Thanks Kylan; this is for my AUC mod (final version will hopefully be uploaded either tonight or tomorrow if I can solve this!)

As Florin said look at tutorials,he made a thread about this ^_*. You need additional data to complete the deal. As I know your mod I will fix the porting to ALEX for you. We can close this thread, and I will work via pm for you as I use ALEX already for TE.

*Admin. Question answered. I will work to help EX about his ALEX porting,so think you should close this.

    Cheers
