Modding Steam Copy of Rome Total War

Hello. I am a longtime Total War player, but an inexperienced modder. And I think I need help.

Recently I've been trying to install Rome Total Realism 6.0 to my copy of Steam edition of Rome Total War Gold and I have been totally unsuccessfull. I install the game to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\rome total war gold

The installer tells me its a sucess. However, whenever I try to open the the game with steam. I get to the first loading screen and then crash after an error mesage.

I've tried multiple different types of installation, such as copying rome to another folder and installing it there, and changing the launch properties. But still I get and error and crash at the first load screen.

Can anyone help me with this?

I think rtr 6.0 is for rtw 1.2

the official RTR 6.0 and gold are for patch 1.2 which might explain OPs problems.

RTR 6.0 Gold is indeed only for R:TW patched to 1.2.

If you want to play a similar campaign with R:TW 1.5 then there is RTR PE (Platinum Edition) which some fans ported from R:TW 1.2 to R:TW 1.5 and also can use R:TW BI 1.6. it can be found here. There is anumber of improvements that have been added to the original - several difference versions have also been added.
