I cant download it?!

Hey
I really like the look of this mod but i cant seem to download it. I start to download but then this picture come up


I have got a vannilla version of rome and everything. Im not very good at this sort ofthing and i was hoping that somebody could help me download this mod. I have windows 7 and I have Rome Total War Gold, and i have it through steam.

yh i meant that but i did do as they said but then it says something about an internet file not being there or something??
I dont understand so i need people to help tell what to do or explain what i did wrong

It would help if you just posted the message so it could be read (and I use a 30" screen with 2560x1600 resolution). If I save the image and blow it up so it may be read it's just a bunch of pixels that can't be read.

Use CTRL+ALT+PrintScreen to just capture the 'active' window and then post that - the image will be in the clipboard and you'll have to paste it somewhere first.

you must download all the 6 files,
RS2.msi - 2,373Kb
RS21.cab - 500Mb
RS22.cab - 500Mb
RS23.cab - 500Mb
RS24.cab - 121.472Mb
RSII_setup.exe - 245Kb

and than put all 6 in the same directory, than start install

I presume this happens after you've downloaded all 6 files and are trying to install it?

I don't use IE as I've used Firefox for the last 4 or 5 years.

When you download the files where have you put them? I tend to create a folder on my 'C' drive (or other drive) and install them there. I never download to my desktop either. The problem with temporary files is that you never know what Windows will do to them.

What do you mean you cant install any of them, you start the install with RSII_setup.exe, that is all.

i put it in here
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\rome total war gold

It may be best to install it to a folder away from Steam. I'd create a C:\Game\Downloads folder and put it there.

The problem with the 'c:\program files (x86)' and 'c:\program files' folders is that under Windows Vista and 7 those folders are protected and it tends to move files away from there into the 'virtual store' or 'appdata' area - you find the start of that by running %appdata%. I don't think that even with UAC (User Account Control) off that these folders are usable.

I've even installed Steam itself away from those folders.

I personally don't use Steam for R:TW so I have no experience of installing onto Steam - there have been plenty of problems doing so and quite a fre threads about it.

The suggested method from the Install Instructions is as follows:

Instructions for Steam Installation

First, make a back-up of both RTW gold and Alexander (if you have it) to somewhere safe.[*]If you have only the gold version: Install RSII in an empty folder somewhere on your computer, then copy/paste its content to the rome total war gold folder. Answer yes if asked to overwrite.
Everything should be ready, and you can start the mod with the launcher.
[*]If you have the gold version and Alexander: Copy the content of the rome total war gold folder, and paste it inside the Alexander folder. Do NOT overwrite files. Then follow the same instructions as above, but inside the Alexander folder. You should now be able to play RTW, BI and Alexander from that folder.

I followed the install instructions but it still didnt work.
I just tried installing into C:\RS2 but it still came up with the same error.
I have installed rtw mods before with no problem. I have made sure atm i got vanilla so i really dont get it?

i click on the links, go run, it starts installing the first one then that error pops up.
I was wondering if i downloaded the torrent if it would work. But the torrent takes ages

If you really did download the files to c:\RS2 you would not be getting the error message you've shown as the file is in a different folder.

I downloaded the Mod from the torrent link,the installation was going well until it reached Rs21.cab file.
What I did is that I downloaded the file again from http://www.filefront.com/17262067/RS21.cab and it worked fine.I suggest re downloading the file.

Don't "go run"
When downloading them click the save button and place them in a folder on your desktop.

You need to save the files, otherwise they go into a temporary folder, where they'll be deleted by windows whenever windows feels like it (i assume )
But yeah, you need to click save, and make sure they're all saved in the same place.
