The Story
McKinney, a Democrat Rep from suburban Atlanta, didn't stop at an officer's request last week, then turned around and hit him after he reached out and grabbed her.
There is a metal detector but Reps can choose not to go through (and avoid the queue), providing that they are recognised by the Capitol police-one of the signs is to wear their special pin. Now, McKinney was not instantly recognised, she was not wearing her pin and hat a dramatic haircut change.
The Aftermath
McKinney went out on a limb to present this as a racial profiling case, and to accuse Capitol police of racism. All that because she considers herself too important to be stopped. In a CNN interview which I suggest you to see with a squeezable rubber ball in your hands (http://us.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/04/0...le/index.html), she evaded to answer any question about what happened giving replies as:
(there are infact two lawsuits for racial profiling, dating to 2001)"I'll tell you what happened, in fact, over 250 black police officers have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Capitol Police Department."
Is is not only her arrogance that gets me, it is the blatant disregard for common sense, and the disgraceful use of the race card.
The only thing she has on her side is that she was scorned by Tom Delay:
For a moment there, I almost liked Delay..."Cynthia McKinney is a racist," DeLay told Fox News Channel, according to The Associated Press. "She has a long history of racism. Everything is racism with her. This is incredible arrogance that sometimes hits these members of Congress but especially Cynthia McKinney."![]()
