Default Jesus-/pyramid-man syndrom ... again [solved]

    Hi there,

I'm sorry to open the x-th thread on this problem in such short an amount of time but I'm desperately trying to import a model for a couple of days now but didn't find a working solution elsewhere.

The model is a mix of a soldier model and own parts I made in 3D Studio which I imported into Milkshape (1.8.5). Until here everything went fine (as far as I can tell) but when I exported the model and run the game I got either Jesus-syndrom and invisible parts (using Mesh2Ms3d beta 0.18) or 'pyramid men' (using GOAT 1.1).

I checked the vertices for correct assignment and also the comments. They seem to be fine, but I was not sure about the skeleton and so tried an unmodded vanilla file, i.e. import/export without changing anything, with the same strange result. I reverted to Milkshape 1.8.4. but that didn't help either. I got the following warnings, though:

Any idea what to make out of this? May be some issue with the Kingdoms meshes, then? I remember vaguely someone mentioned the mesh's were different here.

Well, I'm completly lost and would really appreciate if someone could have a look at the model and tell me that's wrong with the little fellow

    thanks a lot

The errors in your pic only seem to occur with models ripped straight into 3ds. The model uses GOM's skeleton and so you shouldn't use GOAT to convert back to .mesh. Never mix converters and if you can help it don't mix your 3d programs either, apart from some questionable bone assignment the model looks like it should be ok. GOAT 1.1 however refuses to convert the model to .mesh

'Error in class meshObject, method to file: unable to open file:'

Not sure how this model can be saved. Perhaps a pic of the model in game would help.

Thanks for taking your time. It's strange that GOAT wouldn't even convert as it 'works' for me

Anyways, here are the screens ...

    a) exported with GOAT (producing 'pyramid men')*

    b) exported with GOM's converter (producing Jesuses', lots of them ...)*

*(I hope I didn't mix up since I had to retrieve the models from the bin)

I guess, only sensible thing is to save the geometry and start rigging/skinning all over, avoiding MS 1.8.5at all ...

All is working now. I stuck with GOAT and used Milk 1.8.4. Also I had some faces on the object I had imported as .3DS which Milkshape didn't seem to convert well.

    Thanks again for the help
