Default Considering getting a 22in monitor

I currently have a 19in monitor at 1440 x 900, but I'm thinking of upgrading. If I do get a 22in, with a native res. of higher than what I have now, will I need a more powerful GPU?

It says in his sig, the ATI EAH4850 512mb DDR3...
With that card, I honestly don't know...my guess would be yes, you could probably get a monitor with a higher native res...but I don't know how much higher - I was running S2, Nappy and Empire on a desktop with the 8600gt at 1680x1050, with mostly maxed settings, but I don't know enough about that ATI card to say what your performance would be like...

check the native res of the monitor you're going to buy, there's actually a big difference in performance between 1680x1050 and 1920x1080 which are the two most common resolutions when you're talking about a 22inch widescreen monitor.

still, i would say yes you definitely need to get a better GPU if you're going to be playing recent games. for one, your current GPU only has 512 VRAM. a higher resolution and higher texture size will make you slam into the VRAM wall of 512mb and prove to be a bottleneck.

I didn't need 60 FPS for single player...I averaged roughly 20-30...Which was very playable.

Agreed. 30 fps is perfectly playable, especially in Total War games.
