(I'm only halfway through the first book, but provided we make doubly sure to keep spoilers in tags, I'm sure we can include stuff from the second as well.)

What does everyone think of it so far? Anyone else scared by The Others? I'm coming to like the new POV by Jaime (don't know if I should spoiler this since it's so early). I wouldn't say he's a particularly honourable or good guy, but I don't think he's 'bad' either, in the same way as others have been.

Also, for stuff beyond The Wall:

If I had been at the Fist when the wights and Others attacked, I would have been praying to have Ser Alliser Thorne by my side. He may be a dick, but he's the kind of dick you'd want fighting dead people with you.

BIG SPOILER OF BLOOD AND GOLD
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Just started Blood and Gold, was a little bored by Steel and Snow. LOL I think I just want loads of the charcters to die, and to be honest, joffrey's death was already spoiled for me by someone on here as well as tywin's so I just want to get those two deaths out of the way so I will have no other spoilers looming up ahead that i already know about if you know what I mean

Eire, I think somebody brought you into this forum so you can constantly ruin everyone's Game of Thrones experience.

    *edit*

    Lol nevermind, you fixed it.

    *edit*

Though I think you should post more specifically about what you're spoiling.

I did post " BIG SPOILER " before the spoiler for storm of swords, what more do you want me to do?

Well, you could say "spoiler from early on" "spoiler from late in the book," just in-case someone doesn't mistakenly open your spoiler, thinking they've already read it and won't be spoiled.

    In the US it goes
    A Game of Thrones
    A Clash of Kings
    A Storm of Swords
    A Feast for Crows
    A Dance of Dragons

I'm assuming you're reading SoS, and not royally ing up the House Targaryen words.
Jon had taken Donal and Benjen’s advice to heart: Sam may be fat and pathetic, but he is still a member of the watch, and one of the few black brothers who isn't a rapist or thief. (out of context, this sounds ridiculously racist)

A Storm of Swords has been divided into two books by a publisher here in Europe.

FFS, I've been trying to read A Feast for Crows, but I can't stand all the new characters and having to read their chapters.

AFFC is considered the worst for the reason. Get use to reading Cersei chapters. I found them so damn annoying. I get it, she's a psychopathic . The only decent chapters were Jaime imo.

I don't even mind reading the Cersei chapters, I just hate having to read through ANOTHER character's story and find out more about ANOTHER kingdom or something.

    Character spoilers:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
One thing I dislike about the series is how as the story progresses it adds more and more viewpoints without giving us closure or combining the characters into the same story for any length of time. In the fifth book there are story lines that are either separate or split up for a long time following Griff, Tyrion, Dany, Bran, Jon, Jaime, Cersei, Arya, Victarion, Theon...

Yes they intersect, but they are mostly independent, each with their own cast of characters. It's too much. I'd rather have fewer viewpoints and not know what certain characters are thinking and not be as able to foresee future events.

Saying which characters are still alive is a spoiler. Just takes any tension out of a dangerous situation. ffs

No it doesn't. FFS yourself, now you are just getting completely unreasonable. Its one thing when there is a cliff hanger for the character or its left open ended. But no where in Storm is Cersei or Jaime put in such a situation.

    Maybe not Cersei but
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Arya?(I never thought she was dead but yeah). Theon?

I'm not getting too worked up, it's mildly annoying is all. And at one point Jaime is I think.

The scene with the Brave Companions

I'll have doubts about the fates of certain characters, but I'd like it to stay just that, doubts, theories. Until I've reached that particular point in the narrative.

But in hindsight, when I click on these threads I take on the risk of reading what someone might not consider a spoiler, but I would. So maybe I'm at fault somewhat.

On another point, what does everyone imagine the Others to look like? I've always pictured them as treelike figures. Ents with ice.

Actually, I think he's being reasonable. Knowing Martin, any character could end up dead, no matter how important they are. I'd like to keep that uncertainty, so if you would please spoiler the still alive characters, I'd be grateful.
