Any Musicians?

Well to start a small topic in the music section..

I was wondering if there would be any people on these fora that play an instrument.

Personally I play the drums for more than 9 years now, and in a Jazzband.
Have done several concerts with various orchestras..



Any musicians out here?

aye, Guitar player for about 12 years now. Mostly Metal and Heavy rock. Also play Drums (badly, but relatively in time) and Keyboards.
Been in bands since i was about 15, played covers at the start then started writing my own stuff when i was about 18-19, then ended up doing covers again because i missed playing live.

Recently (the last 2-3 years) i've gotten heavily into software synthesisers and sequencers as well, (like Reason), and mostly make industrial rock/metal type stuff.

Well, I've beeing playing the piano for what... 9 years now? And I'm 16. SO yeah, I guess I'm a musician I might get a pic or two....

Recently took up the guitar...It's gonna be a good year or two before I'm good enough to play anything in front of people though :p

Bass, guitar, cello, little bit of piano. People may remember that pic of my band I posted in the "Say Cheese" thread... that finished anyway.

Took up acoustic guitar last year, it'll be a while before I'm good.

Drums for three years.

ive been playing acustic guitar since i was 8 years old and now im 16 so thats one half of my life. im playing in a group with four other acustic guitarists.
the group is quite good and we already did some real nice gigs and now we are even going to make our own cd thats some really nice stuff.

I've played the piano for years, like 9, but hated it, so I have about erased all psychomotric data on clavier-playing from my brain (if only my teacher had put a harpsichord under my fingers, things would have been waaaay different)
I still pick up my Recorders ( leant it for like 7 years) from time to times, to play stuff from the bible of solo recorder music

Alto Saxophone for 1 1/2 years, then got tired of it and switched to Tenor Saxophone. Much more fun.
I'm also in a concert and jazz band.

I started taking lessons for Acoustic when I was 7 (With those child sized acoustics) and I'm a few months older than 15 now (So, 8 years). Once i learned Acoustic good enough, I could easily play electric. I think i've played Electric for 2-3 years now. I tried Learning piano, but I failed in that venture. I can however, play Keyboard O.K .... not great, but decent enough.

I hope to buy a Sitar in a year or so (When the funds are availible). Myself, i've been in one band, in which we released 1 album and 1 single. Since that broke up, myself and a friend compiled one song.

Right now I am working with a local band on their newest single, and I hope to help them out with the new album they are releasing this summer.

I learned guitar for about a month, but I never practiced. I didn't appreciate music as much...

Maybe I should take it up again.

Nah, I have decided to take up the drums. The drummer is the real controller of the band, not the "lead" guitarist or "lead" vocalist. Take the drums and bass away from a good song and see if it's any good then...

Any suggestions for a completely inexperienced (ie airdrummer, but I have a good sense of rhythm) drummer?

When asked whether or not he believed Ringo Starr to be the best drummer in the world. He was refering to Paul McCartney, who played drums on "Back in the USSR" from the White Album, as well as some other recordings, when Ringo wasn't available

I've played guitar for 20 odd years now,i was in a couple of grunge bands, one fairly sucessefull toured alot lived the rock and roll life style for about three years, now i just play for fun,though i still record stuff at home,and do the odd bit of enginering and production for youngsters (for free) .

I don't like McCartney's drumming compared to Ringo (Lennon was joking when he said that).
