ive edited quite a few files so im wondering if anyone knows which file controlls these sort of texture things, or what i could possibly have done to cause this?

You only can now what you have done. Have you edited the contents of the data/terrain folder ? Or any of these files :
· ../data/descr_aerial_map_ground_types.txt (V)
· ../data/descr_climates.txt
· ../data/descr_climates_lookup.txt
· ../data/world/maps/base/map_climates.tga
· ../data/world/maps/base/map_ground_types.tga
