    Default Belgae Campaign

I started a new campaign yesterday, I can't see a building I can build that gives me anything other than Gallic Light Cavalry. I started with 1 unit of Noble Cav but haven't found a way to retrain them yet.

I haven't the population level to upgrade to a city yet so maybe not far enough?

[edit] I'm 10 turns in, next level of upgrade is 24K

Be sure and read the building requirements for each barracks. Also, the light cav. aren't available until the third barracks building, are you saying NOTHING else is recruitable anywhere? If that's so, something screwed up in your install.

No I'm not saying that, only that the only cavalry I can recruit are light ones. I think I need the metal import to get the next level of barracks which is just completing so it may be just missing the necessary level to update my cav.

Ok sorted, it just takes longer. You need to build a metals import, then a blacksmith -> small foundry, then the next level of hall and finally the barracks to get the cavalry as Belgae. You get chariots and light cav from the start.

I there any point in testing a longer campaign? I am up to turn 38 or so on a Belgae, I can carry-on or are there other things you'd rather test? I can start another Roman campaign - I'm not sure my others are consistent with fixes after the CTD so I'd need to start again.

I like the Belgae, it's take a while to get decent cavalry but that is balanced by having access to decent starting infantry and the elite skirmishers can really hold their own against quite a lot. A good campaign, bit worrying now as the Avernii and Cimbrii are both expanding so all 3 are pretty much bordering each other.

Yes, worth checking a bit longer especially what leadership traits are appearing.

Yes, please. Ensure that characters are getting tribal assignments, that they are progressing nicely thru their leadership tree (acquiring stars and command), and that various animal traits show up occasionally.
Also there are some specific Barbarian traits that should show up 'Thinker, etc.'...........and recruit a number of generals to see that they also acquire tribal traits and stuff.

In addition, assess the difficulty of the campaign.....amount of money and the challenge, I guess. I want to know that the new traits haven't made anything easier.

OK, I'll check. I know they are getting tribal traits, I did have a recruited General who was doing well but I made the cardinal mistake of retreating his army from a battle and didn't notice the skull. oops!

I'll check all their traits later. Challenge wise - I'm playing m/m, money is OK, I've always been in profit usually between 10-20K a turn but I haven't got any tax buildings yet. I've taken most of Britain now and the free people cities round my starting position but now bordering the Avernii and Cimbrii, with the Romans making in-roads to the South so it will definitely get interesting soon.

I've taken all of Britain and a few of the free people around me, but I'm now beginning to butt up against the Avernii and Cimbrii. The Romans did take one of the Gaulish towns (one above Massalia) but they were then taken back by the Avernii.

Economically it's becoming a struggle to build and get more troops but I don't use the tax buildings so I'm probably not getting as much income as I can. I tend to build roads, markets and smiths to start with.

I have trade agreements with pretty much everyone and I fight every battle no matter how small. This is m/m.

Will update with traits etc later but I need to get those screens organised.

It's a deceptive campaign, easy to beat the free people but the avernii and cimbrii both have some nasty looking stacks. I probably ought to have developed the town they start with in Britain faster so that I can use it to pump troops out should the worst happen and I get besieged in the middle.
