Default Romano British provincial campaign (final)

    Romano British provincial campaign
    by player1

    Requires:
v1.6 patch for Barbarian Invasion expansion pack

    Introduction:

    It's year 363 AD.
You are Placus Flavius, appointed Dux Britannium.
Natives call you Flavius the Horsemen, due to great skill as cavalry commander.
By Roman emperor, you were granted the rule of Britannia province to deal with Celtic problem.
If Celts are dealt with and army is mustered, everything is possible...

    The scenario features:

-same Barbarian Invasion campaign starting in 363AD
-playable Romano Britons in control of two Britain regions that West Roman Empire holds
-exact same conditions in buildings and units like in main campaign
-control of same Roman general as in main campaign, but now as new faction leader
-need for "mini-reforms", since money is tight at start

    The scenario does not include:
-altered data files, since it's not a mod, but a provincial campaign only

    Download:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/downl...do=file&id=846

    Installation:

Unzip the download into your Rome - Total War folder. If it's done well, you'll get a new provincial campaign available with Romano British as playable faction.

Installation does not modify any of original files, it just adds extra campaign.

    Compatibility:

Since this campaign is based on slightly altered main campaign, it should work with most mini-mods that don't alter game map. For example: BUG-FIXER, DarthVader gameplay fix, etc...

    Known issues:

-If your last family member dies during AI turn, you won't get defeat message and game will freeze
-Provincial campaign suffers from same bugs that exist in main campaign

    ok...

    Starting conditions:
WRE "vassal", making plans for fighting Celts:

Me after taking out Saxons, preparing to backstab Romans:

Money is tight, I can barely make one full attacking stack without losing money.
    (but that's on VH/VH)

Will this Romano-British mod (looks quite good, btw) work if you already have the XGM mod installed with BI? I'm kinda hoping that it does, but wanted to double-check first.
Also, assuming that it does, do you go in the conventional way to find it or else via the BI-XGM icon on the desktop?

    Thanks in advance

It should work with moded game as long as original BI campaign isn't moded too much (like chaning provinces or removing some of original units).

I suggest to try, since I really have no answer.
Note that you start it normally as BI, and then check Provincial Campaign from single player menu.

When I try starting the campaign all I get is a "Select an Item from the list".

I have the Romano British clearly selected and yet nothing is changed.

I am having the same problem. I extracted the Romano British file to BI Campaign folder. I also recently installed the Bug-Fixer V3, any suggestions?

Zip file should be unzipped into your Rome Total War folder.
If that's done well, you find campaign in bi\data\world\maps\campaign folder.
    Is that true?

Yeah the file "Romano British" is extracted to that location. Maybe I don't have the correct patch downloaded. Do you have a link?

You should have 1.6, the one and only patch for BI.
Haven't remembered the link, but try looking at totalwar.com

I just downloaded it and installed it. The campaign launches well--although I would suggest a faction map showing the Romano British territories as a nice addition. I haven't started playing yet--I just wanted to see if it worked out launching.

Okay, I played for a few years, and I wiped out the Celts, Saxons, and Burgundians (some hordes remain--I'm dealing with them on the battlefield personally as they outnumber me). Mysteriously, the Western Roman Empire declared war on me--there's that shitty AI again. Your resources are quite limited, as they should be, but it's definitely a fun little add-on for BI.

Historically, I question two things about this, although these would be TCA's fault. One, Graal Knights seem dramatically overpowered--I find it highly dubious that they would be able to square off with Sassanid cataphracts. Secondly, I question making British legionnaires inferior to the their continental counterparts. Did training in Britian somehow become inferior to training on the continent despite standardized military manuals and instructors?

    Thank you, player1.

Well, they couldn't maintain the same training and equipment as the mainland ones after the last legions were pulled out. They were still considered 'elite' to the barbarians threatening their land but they had lost some of the luster that their mainland counterparts had.

PS: Finally found this! Played it in the past and it brings back good memories.

    Default Romano-British Legions

Geoffry of Monmouth (a 12th century clergyman from the Birtish Island) states in his Historia Regum Britanniae in book IV chapter II that after campaigns sent across the Channel in the 380's, the Roman forces in Britain were no longer capable of containing the advance of the Picts. Supposedly, Rome was able to gather once more a legion that expelled the invaders back to Ireland; however, the legion declared that Rome couldn't protect Britain anymore and so, with the help of the Romano-British built a wall between Scotland and Deira. All men were sent to Londinium to receive military training and instruction upon the usage of the siege weapons; then, the legion left them equipment to arm themselves and vowed never to return again to Britain.
Later on, the invaders, learning that Romans promised never to return, resumed their invasions and it was until the time of Constantine II of Britain (Constantine III a ursurper as Western Emperor), who came from Britanny, that some pressure was again relieved from the region.
Despite the fact that most of Geoffry's account is pseudo-historical, he is considered a source in matters concerning this unreliable period and he mentions also many elements of the Arthurian cycle.
Therefore, even if his fictionalized account is not correct, it makes me perfect sense that Roman legionaries trained by the Romano-British in the campaign are of lower quality than their Continental counterparts if their unit roster is based on this leyends.

Great to create my first post, and I can't wait to command the Romano-British forces.
