    Default Grunge music

    Lately I've been going through a grunge phase which for me means listening to lots of Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, Pearl Jam, etc. I was doing a quick google search and got caught up in some pretty intense forum wars over whether Alice in Chains or Nirvana was better. Inspired by this, I come hear to ask any of you who are fans of this genre of music, what is your favorite grunge group and why? Personally, I'm going to have to be cliche and go with Nirvana but they have a ton of great songs. Although it seems to me that if they weren't amazing, they flopped completely usually just sounding like nothing but yelling and noise.

    The thing is, yelling and noise is a return to roots for them, coming out of the hardcore punk scene of the 1980s. And I shudder to call Pearl Jam grunge, they're much to clean.
    I thought about writing something clever, but then I remembered I'm not clever enough.

    Temple of the dog - a collaboration between Sound Garden and Pearl Jam in remembrance of Andrew Wood lead singer of MotherLoveBone forerunner to Pearl Jam ;

    MotherLoveBone;

    Also Mad Season a Layne Staley side band;

    Blind Melon, just cause' I like them;

    Green River, where it all began;
