    Default Google search redirect virus

I got this Monday, (virus would use google search to redirect to alternate site, malware? McAfee tools/detection could not find/remove it. Had to do a system restore to another date which eliminated the virus but my DVD-ROM drive had been made unusable/readable. Microsoft wed tools repaired the problem...but geezz

    Anybody else had this problem?

Its called a broswer hijack. The next time this happens and you cant get rid of it, you dont have to do a system restore. These are generally tied to the user profile, so if you create another user, when you login with that user the problem is gone. You can then move all your documents and stuff and delete the other account.

Well the good part was that I knew when I got it, the bad is my XP had to restore my DVDROM driver because it would not recognize it. Plus Google-Picsas was infected too.
