Rome Total War Alexander Multiplayer not working

HI all I bought rome total war complete on steam and can do multiplayer on Rome total war and Barbarian invasion but cant multiplay on Alexander when I try to log in I get a message (Logon failed invalid cd-key) any Ideas for a fix I have windows 7 home premium 64-bit

For some reason the CD key provided with Alexander doesn't work. You can, however, use the CD key provided with Rome Total War Gold and it should work fine.
