    I am careful to ensure VH/VH is selected, but achieving victory so soon has me wandering if I have accidentally been playing at a lower difficulty setting.

    Sorry mate, 77 turns is not fast. The easiest faction in this campaign is the Apaches. Want to see something really fast, check out my AAR "The Spirit of the Blitz" in my signature.

    77 turns is pretty fast if you aren't aiming for speed. I think it has a lot to do with how close all of the settlements are. That coupled with playing like a boss equals a relatively short game.

    I finished Spain on VH/VH in 30 turns. I think Spain is the fastest, because with cannons, each army can take one settlement per turn.
