    Icon13 The byzantine empire units are.....ugly!Any way to resolve this?

    The biyzantine empire units are very UGLY and repetitive.....almost all infantry use that hat...so is there any mod or any way to at least put this units back to the vanilla?Or a mod that fixs this problem?

    TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
    Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
    read this to avoid misunderstandings.

    IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
    Adding MARKA HORSES in your mod and create new varietions of them. Tutorial RESTORED.

    Both are clasic byzantine helmets that adopted by Rus too later.

    no...these are cool....but i mean the sparthatoii and the scoutatoii helmets....i mean they just look the same...kind of boring...that flame unit(forgot the name)is very ulgy too...also the pronoia cavalry(forgot the right name)wear a very strange body armor and the helmets seems to block their view...wondering if thats is realistic...

    btw....what is that thing wrapped up in the spear of archontopoulai?thats....seems bugged!or its a feature?

    a bit harsh in your coms maybe, several hours(many, many...hours) of work were needed to lead at this actual result.

    me I shut-up and I wait the updated units which are actually in phase of making

    Actually....yes you are right....i was harsh and apologise....i greatly exaggerad because i think MOST of the byzantine units looks great!BUT there are some that look....urgh!and some are a litle bit repetitive like the scoutatoi swordmen and the sparthatoii....i mean it just change the colors and the symbol of the shield!And the sparthatoii is the ultimate infantry of the empire that can only be builded in constantinople!I really think they should look more cooler....on the other sider i really loved this units for the empire:
    Cavalrii
    Latinikon
    Scholarii
    Archontopoulai(althought that thing wrapped in his spear look quit strange)
    etc....

    AND i just wanted changes for some units really

    Off topic:That greek fire unit is very fun!i mean WOW!Very fun to burn things!

    The Roman units have the same shield patterns because they are historically accurate. The Romans at the time were one of the only nations at the time that fielded professional armies with standardised equipment.

    Caesar Clivus is right but in my opinion i never liked the Byzantine infantry armor they have ugly tastes XD . I Love More the Ancient Roman Armor.

    He mean the Hat helmets and etc propably

    Well the units from vanilla are indeed ugly but Thank God ( Antonius II ) for his wonderfull work with the the Byzantine Roster

    download a mod that has new Byzantine reskin units is the only solution mate

    I know that some features look odd to players.
    Why scutatoi should have ONLY shield colored change?
    The answer lies here: (remember what Ceasar Clivus said about profesional armies).
    Read the translation of the yellow text...


    Now imagine that a province (like a small state) could field three divisions of troops each one that could have three battalions.
    The shield patterns and colors were the easiest way for a general to know each momment where each of his battalions was and under what situation.
    So the three divisions would have diferend shield patern .
    But each battalion would have the same patern- on its shields-of the division that would belong. The three battalions of the same division would have the same patern but with diferend colors.
    The result would look like this:


    See that the three units use the same patern but under diferend color.
    So what CC and CBUR made was not to save time but to present as accurate and possible what realy the medieval Roman (Byzantine)army looked like.

    The lasted units in this game if i remember are like 2 or 3 additional unis since the Byzantines in the late campaign are like already REALLY dying they have like 4 territories left just waiting for the Ottoman Empire to devour the ALL

    There are some Palaeologian troops (german knights, latin handgunners, scithicon) but mostly Pronoiarii.

    We could NOT add more units in SS 6.1 mod back then. The unit pool was full. We had no right to completly unballance other people work.

    I am sorry but I love the Byzantine units and I think they indeed look like a professional army. My only complaint is them steam rolling me

    Play the late campaign then, I don't think they'll be steamrolling over anyone with the heart of their empire ripped out.

    I've played (still am time to time) a Venetian campaign with the intent of restoring the Romans somewhat. Gave them Ancona and Ragusa to gain a ceasefire then an alliance. I thought that might be enough to see them get off their feet and only less than 10-15 turns later they lost it without a fight. So I took Constantinople and with a lot of diplomacy came to a nice tribute deal for me to hand it over since they'll then have some nice Roman units on the go and still they have done little save turtle up their cities.

    If it keeps going like this I'll gladly betray them outright and smash them to oblivion for being such a pathetic ally. Hopefully they'll agree to a vassalship but knowing the AI they'll be stupid. Although given the geography of their territory they are a nice buffer for my intention of going to war with the Pope but still pretty useless.

    I like that Spatharii tou Vasileous unit look, ( I realize I horribly misspelled that, but I don't have it up right now to reference the name), they're one of my favorite, I also prefer the hat that resembles a cap, with an open face, I get tired of the bucket heads of western Europe..

    Anthonius II, what will those fantastic looking units be used in aside from your mod The Great Conflicts? Are they unused by the time Stainless Steel starts? I'd kill to use units like that, not that the current scoutatoi aren't great looking, but after so many years a new look would be very welcome.
