I've tried several versions of Safari on XP, on two separate machines, and the result is the same. Crash on loading. Googling the subject, I get the impression that this is a common problem. Does anyone else have any experience of Safari on XP?

why not just switch to Chrome,
Safari and Chrome use the same base web engine, and Chrome is less likely to crash then safari
safari has always been more targeted toward Mac i mean Apples PC software track record isnt that great i just have to look back at Q time and Itunes cluttering up process lists and causing issues in the past.
Id recommend any browser period over Safari and i say that having tested multiple browsers for plugin compatibilities etc,

I can't help you with your issue, but when it comes to browsers, I don't even bother trying to make things compatible for non Acid-3 browsers. Talk about waste of time.

Use Firefox or Chrome (preferably Firefox), Safari is the worst browser. Worse than IE.
We have on machines used for web development and up until they were all xp machines and we didn't have problems related to safari running. The XP machines were running 4.X I believe not the current 5.

well again for web development Chrome and Safari use the same base code for handling web pages, so keep that in mind

It was tested on both, but the error was reported for Safari but not for Chrome. I've tried 4.05, but that doesn't work either, giving me a "Floating-point invalid operation" when I open the browser. I'm now looking at a different way of handling the scrolly text, using a marquee tag rather than the package-produced javascript event.
I can debug some stuff for you if you'd like. (W7 though.)
