Default I`m becoming a vassal. A few questions.

In my current campaign as Novgorod I found myself in a somewhat sticky situation. And as a result, I accepted to become a vassal of Denmark.

Now I am interested in the following:

1.) What are the concrete disadvantages a vassal status brings you?
(I actually searched for answers, and it seems that most people don`t know, mainly because vanilla is so easy that nobody ever NEEDS to become a vassal. So far I have found two possible answers. One is that you give your overlord everything you have in your treasury over 15k. The other one is that you give him a half of your complete income. Is any of this true?)

2.) How does one break vassalship? Can I just attack one of my overlords cities?

the vasselage is as an alliance, which is better to broke by diplomatic way than to attack "spontaneously". I guess its get a malus on your reputation if you want start a savage blitzkrieg

I am quite sure about the giving half your income away. And its the same way as breaking alliances for breaking vassalage

Not quite. When you are a vassal there is no option on the diplomacy screen to break your vassalage the way you can cancel an alliance.

To break your vassalage, either you or Denmark need to attack the other. Unless you are playing Gracul's AI Denmark probably won't attack you.

When becoming a vassal I have usually found that, regardless of any automatic payments taken from you for being a vassal, you can get a hefty tribute attached to the deal to counter your losses or even make money.

I became a vassel of Novgorod playing as The Teutons. It was actually helpful, as I was very low on money, in war with Lithuania, Denmark, Poland and Novgorod which all were superior in armies compared to me. The vassel resulted in more money for me and alliance with Novgorod
