    Default Crash to desktop

So I'm playing as the Moors/Almovarids in Clouds Across Europe 1.4, maintaining in Iberia, expanding across the western Mediterranean ect, ect. Anyways, right after i take the island of Sicily and fight off a Papal army in Tunisia the game crashes to the desktop and a message comes up that says: "Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecific error and will now exit." I reloaded several times, moving some armies around and stacks of warships to different areas of the map, even purchasing different upgrades for my cities and castles, but the game still crashes as soon as the it starts to cycle through the AI factions moves.

It wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact that I had been saving over the same file for a long time and I would pretty much have to start over if I were to abandon the save file that invariably leads to a crash to the desktop if I try to advance the turn.

Does anyone know of any tips or quick fixes that I could try to prevent the crash to the desktop for this specific save file? This was gearing up to be a really fun campaign and I would hate to start over.

    Thanks.

Something you could try is to load the Autosave game instead, asuming that happened before your last End Turn. It may have saved before the point where it decided it was gonna crash on you.

Maybe you ran out of space on your computer? Try emptying some files and such, it happened to me to, If you have less than 100 MB it tends to happen.
