Default can't find the strength of halberd units

the 1 thing i can't find is a strength for is the halbbruder unit in kingdoms. iv tested every 1 on 1 scenario and have came to the conclusion they don't counter anything. are they just great backup troops to charge a fixed enemy?

i was asking about the halbbruder unit for the teutonic knights faction. the dismounted version, that wields a halbred. i can understand the misidentification lol.

They are armour piercing => good against armoured enemies
They have a (small) spear bonus (of 4) => good against cavarly
They have good moral stats => can stand in tough battles

atleast that's what the descr_unit file says.

The Halberd type units are good to mix in with your Militia troops -- they are best used against Heavily Armored Infantry.

say if your garrison of Spear Militia, has a few halberdiers thrown in, they present a much better defense against an assault of Heavy Infantry ...

on the open battlefield, They're good to stand mixed in with your other infantry... But, 1 on 1 as you've tested , or used as a primary infantry without support of other infantrymen they're abysmal.

The worst units of Halberd are the Obudashaer and Swiss Guard because of the expense in recruitment and upkeep -- the best are Middle-Eastern Halberds, and the voulgiers, in terms of all-round usefullness.

Poland also benefits from having halberds because they lack quality infantry it helps give them a little extra against an infantry heavy faction like HRE for instance...

Halbruders are a fake halberdier unit, because they don't have shield wall. The Janissary Heavy Infantry is another fake halberdier unit.

On the other hand, the swordstaff is a real halberdier unit, even though they don't have a halberd.

Halbruder are next to useless as line infantry due to no shield and no spearwall. I tend to use two in all my teutonic armies as flanking infantry. Their high charge/attack and ap weapons makes them perfect for the job. Use teutonic spears as the line and flank with these guys. You'll soon find that they are much better that way.
