Default Need help modding the Pope!

Ok so I want to mod SS so that the Papal States are in perfect relations with me. I'm want to play as France and I'm having trouble. I know exactly how to do this because I did this on vanilla. Here is what I did:

-I went into the SS mod folder and went into the descr_faction_standings.txt file
    - I added a new trigger. It looked like this:

    ;------------------------------------------
    Trigger 0110_Update_Papal_Alliance
    WhenToTest FactionTurnStart
    Condition FactionType France
    FactionStanding factions { papal_states } 2.0

I start the game yet I don't get full crosses with the Pope. This worked in vanilla, but it's not working in the SS mod.

    Any help?

I cannot look it up here but i suggest that your trigger triggers to early...

theres a place where your papal standing is set... this happens after your trigger.
search for it and replace it there... somehere in the campaigns folder...
    good luck

What do you mean it's too early? I've looked for the papal standing in the campaign folder and I still can't find it.

Go to data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign and open descr_strat.txt file. Then search for "start of diplomacy section" (without quota ofc).
    Edit your faction standings there

Simply add there lines in proper places:
    faction_standings papal_states, 1.00 france
    faction_standings france, 1.00 papal_states

You can even ally yourself with the pope adding these lines in proper place (faction_relationships)

    faction_relationships france, allied_with papal_states
    faction_relationships papal_states, allied_with france

That only made the relations between me and the Papal States be perfect. What I want is for the crosses to be all the way full for France.

Help me out here... whats the problem with using the campaignscript to do this?
    monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionIsLocal
    set_faction_standing france papal_states 1.0
    set_faction_standing papal_states france 1.0
    end_monitor

Will that increase my favor with the Pope or will that just improve my relations with the Papal States?

Sorry I don't mean to keep asking questions, but just bare with me here... I can't find that trigger in the campaign script... are you supposed to place it in there? Where do you put it?

Bane is saying you have to insert it in the script. Doesn't matter where it goes so long as its after
    Code:
    script
    restrict_strat_radar false

OK, maybe i'm not making myself clear.. I want favor with the Pope at the highest place it can be ( the crosses in the Pope window ), and renewed every turn. That trigger bane gave me doesn't do that. I was able to do this in vanilla, but I can't do it in SS...

Actuall that is exactly what it does. Post every step you made to implement this. CS changes wont apply to a running campaign.

You made yourself clear. Did you put it in the right campaign script file and not the backup? Also, have you got UAC turned off?

I put that trigger in the early campaign file, not the backup... right under the "restrict_strat_radar false" line.

And yes, I do have UAC on, and I plan to keep it on because it protects you from viruses and things like that.

UAC is the cause of 90% of the problems posted on this forum. It's why your changes aren't showing up.

    mods - Stainless Steel - data - campaign - early - world - maps -campaign - imperial_campaign - campaign_script.txt

In the campaign script I put that trigger bane gave me.

Also, is it safe to turn off UAC? My dad is a computer software engineer and he says that if UAC is turned off it could give you viruses or malware.

Dude that's the wrong file. That is the backup. The file you want is in SS6.3\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

Did you start a new campaign after implementing the change?

And if you are concerned turn UAC off, reboot. Make the change. Test. Turn UAC on, reboot.

Yes, I tried 10 times starting a new campaign with that trigger and it still didn't work.

If I turn UAC off, reboot and put the trigger in, then turn UAC back on, will that get the trigger to work?
