    Default The Lee Theorum....

Oh, what blasphemy is this coming from me, the resident high-skate? But, for once, I have seen what I have labeled in my own mind as the "Lee1026 Factor". I am sure he has saved you all money sometimes, myself i'm sure of that.

Yet, now, I present you with the Lee Factor, in my own words.

I now have an extreme computer (Left me broke), but my old computer, a Dell, could run RTW at Medium-High settings, and play it fairly good, it would only lag in a couple instances. "What High Quality dell computer do you have?" some have asked. Trust me, tis terrible.

    256 MB RAM
    GeForce3 ti 200 64MB Graphics Card
    5400 RPM HDD
    1.69 Pentium 4 Northwood

So, this computer could run RTW at a fairly decent pace. Yet, I have heard people complain about their much better, more advanced computers having a terrible time running RTW. For god sakes, I have seen much better PCI (Even some onboard ) graphics cards!

Now, had I been intelligent, I could of spent some $30 for another 512MB of RAM, and OC'd my Processor to 2.2ghz . Had I done this, my computer would be fine running RTW.

So, I wonder, why do people buy ridicuously expensive computers and cry about their slow systems? Because this:

    A) Anyone heard of a Defragment, I heard it is pretty useful
    B) Disk Cleanup, ah, that is useful.
    C) Hey, I havnt played C&C 2 for 3 years, maybe I should uninstall it.
    D) I L0ve Pr0n!

Will rant more, and update later.

I find its not a matter of just running it, its running it well. I have also found that mods such as RTR and EB add a performance hit, especially later in the game. I get the occasional slowdown, as I run the unit size on large, and turn most of the eye candy on. Sure I could play it on small with no eye candy, but whats the point? I want to upgrade my machine, so I can play MTW2 on Huge with ALL the eye candy on, its just the way they were ment to be played.

Heres my thought, if you are going to buy a game, run it on high settings or don't buy it. I'm a pretty big graphics person, I always turn up the video settings on all my games, even if it ment I can only run it at 20-25 FPS. If you run a game at low settings then you are not playing it the way its ment to be played

I also agree that, for the people that buys $200+ graphics cards, it will make n0 difference, if a sub 200 graphics card can already run all the games out now on highest settings, why buy a $500 graphics card? Does 100 FPS compared to 40 FPS really make that much difference?

Of course not. But graphics don't really matter that much. Get a friend to change AA and AF setting for you, and see if you can notice the difference or not. Hell, play at 1/2*1/2 resolution for your screen and see if you can notice a difference. You can't.

While I'm not as picky about graphics as some other people are, I do tend to notice a difference between 800 x 600 compared to 1280 x 1024 And 2x AA make a pretty big difference, even though higher 4x or 6x AA is pretty much useless. I agree that I don't notice that much difference on AF in games though, I can only notice those stuff when they post 2 pictures side by side online, if they got to do that for me to even notice a difference, then its not worth it.

The textures at that resolution is pretty bad, but whats worse is the extremely jagged lines. I might not notice that much of a difference between 1024 x 800 and 1280 x 1024, but anything lower, I see a pretty big difference.

Actually, it have more to do with the screen - as a LCD it can not display anything that less then max resolution. When the computer tells it to display something smaller, it makes some of the pixels bigger then others which create our problem. However if you use 1/2*1/2, then you will not notice anything at all. I know that extremely small resolutions are in COD 2, try them sometime. And remember, 1/2*1/2 of a moniter is still a hell of a lot better then a TV. And I don't hear people complain about that.
